About this listen

The Russian Revolution was as red as blood. The Bolsheviks promised that they were building a new society, a workers’ paradise that would change the nature of mankind itself. What they ended up constructing was the largest prison the world had ever seen: a Union of Soviet Socialist Republics that spanned half the globe.

It was a country where people's lives meant nothing, less than nothing—and they knew it. But no matter what atrocity that the Soviets committed—the secret police, the torture chambers, the show trials, the labor camps, and the mass starvation—there was always someone in the West rushing to justify their bloodshed. For decades, it seemed perfectly obvious that the USSR wasn’t going anywhere—until it vanished from the face of the earth, gradually, and then suddenly. This is the story of the rise and fall of that evil empire, and why it is so important for the good to never give up hope. This is The White Pill.

Riveting. Brutal. True.

Only took two days to listen to, has to keep rewinding because some of the detail was so shocking I couldn't believe my ears.

This book is a must for everyone at some point in their life, hopefully earlier than later. Every generation faces the rise of totalitarianism, and the temptation to think as an idealog that, if done right, the next time will work should be the ever present fear for humanity. In 2023, we are closer to repeating this book than ever before, but on a global scale.

I will be listening again with fear, trepidation, and resolve to educate the new socialists

Amazing retelling if the rise and fall of the USSR.
Hope inspiring, yet dark and disturbing. If you start it, finish it.

Great book, recommend reading at a lower speed.

A masterpiece by Malice as usual, although the narration wasn't good by the author's standards.

Great book. Not a great title

This is a fantastic and detailed account of the rise of anarcho-communists in the US, transitioning to the rise and finally the collapse of the Soviet Union. So many parallels to today in how well-meaning but misguided activists are manipulated by incompetent and corrupt journalists and culture leaders.
Much better than his last audio book. While I enjoyed “The Anarchist Handbook” a lot, his choice in narrators sacrificed consistency for internet celebrity. Malice reading this new book himself, even at his fast pace, was a far more enjoyable experience.

My only complaint is the title “The White Pill”. I get Malice’s overall point and his ‘tistic obsession with the different pills that he frequently grills his podcast guests on. But since most normies don’t know what he’s talking about, they’re probably going to ignore it or be confused while reading. If that was going to be his focus, he should have emphasized the concept of the White Pill throughout the book instead of using it as a mic drop at the end. People who follow Malice will get it, but again, normies will probably won’t feel the same impact.

I’m sure most of you will disagree with my nitpick, but it’s still a great book that I will recommend to others and probably re-listen to again in the near future.
