Perfect Reading

Michael Hordern’s rough but gentle voice is perfect for this classic. He refuses to rush things and the leisurely pace suits the mood of the story. Delightful.

The best narration!

There are many free versions of this literary masterpiece available and, right here on Audible, more than two dozen other options to buy. I can't say I've heard them all but did sample many before landing on this one. The late Michael Hordern's narration perfectly captures the mood of the story (and this is a book about mood). It's like a warm blanket with a cup of tea, sitting by the fire on a cold winter's day.

I've read it so many times, the narration is perfection. I keep coming back to listen again.

A great British reading...classic!

Each character is brought vividly to life and the poetry of this classic story is rendered with understated poise.
