About this listen

Duet narration by Sebastian York and Lucy Rivers

She’s his fiancée’s younger sister. He’s the man she’s always loved.

When her sister doesn’t show up on her wedding day, Raven has no choice but to take her place — but marriage to Ares Windsor is nothing short of torture.

The elusive billionaire media mogul is the man she’s always loved… yet he’s only ever had eyes for her sister.

Married to him at last, Raven is determined to win him over.

After all, everything is fair in love and war.

And this?

This is war.

Publisher's Note: this book contains a lot of angst. As mentioned in the blurb, the heroine is marrying her sister's fiancé. If this is not a theme you'd enjoy, then this book might not be for you. This is a standalone with a guaranteed happily-ever-after, and no cheating.

✨ Loved!

I really enjoyed the story! There were a couple spots where I felt like the characters were a bit inconsistent, but it didn't affect my enjoyment of the book. I can never get enough of SY narrating and the FMC was pretty good too 👏.
I was in a bit of a book rut but this brought me out of it.

Cute story

At times the story was somewhat predictable but it typically is with these types of tropes. Overall I enjoyed the story and the audiobook.

Could have been a great rom-com but…

Male character needs to learn more vocabulary! He uses the F word so often it’s distracting. As much as several times in a same sentence! Also, the fact that he keeps calling the heroine a slut felt rather insulting.
The story has the making of a really good romantic comedy but could have been better with less sex scenes and more romance.

Satisfying ending

My first audiobook. It took me a few chapter to adjust to the voices, I didn't really like them, but it grew on me. The story got better and better for me. The audacity of the sister and the mother, made my blood boiled. I loved it when he called her cupcake (that nickname was cute to me) and how she found a real, loving family in his. I really liked the ending, the sister and mother got what they deserved too, I was satisfied :) In general, a good read, I was really hooked at the end. And damn the spicy scenes🫣🫣 🔥🔥and my jaw dropped/I gasped a few times ahah

That voice...

I love Sebastian York's narriation. He really makes the book come alive.

It was an interesting story. Pretty steamy scenes. That sister got to me though. I could have reached into the novel and throttled her myself. So, very good writing in that aspect. I will probably continue to listen to more books in this series.

A Twisted Path to True Love

In this captivating romance novel, we follow the tumultuous journey of Raven and Ares Windsor — a story of unrequited love, betrayal, and ultimate redemption.

Raven has always loved Ares, the elusive billionaire media mogul, but there’s one problem: he’s engaged to her sister. When her sister fails to show up on her wedding day, Raven finds herself standing in as the bride, marrying the man of her dreams — though not in the way she ever imagined. What should be the happiest day of her life becomes a painful reminder that their marriage is rooted in obligation, not love.

Determined to win Ares over, Raven faces an uphill battle. Misunderstandings and miscommunications have kept them apart for years, and though Ares has secretly loved her all along, a cruel twist of fate led him to an engagement with her sister. The tangled web of secrets doesn’t end there — Raven’s sister and mother have long manipulated and abused her kindness, exploiting her loyalty until she reaches her breaking point.

As the story unfolds, Raven undergoes a powerful transformation. She finally finds the strength to stand up for herself, cutting the toxic influences from her life. With the unexpected support of Ares’ family, who rally behind her, Raven gains the courage to fight for her own happiness.

What makes this novel truly compelling is Ares’ relentless pursuit of Raven once the truth comes to light. His methods may be devious at times, but his love for her is undeniable. Their journey from heartache to healing is both intense and deeply satisfying.

I absolutely loved this story. It’s an emotional rollercoaster filled with raw feelings, fierce loyalty, and a love that refuses to be extinguished. If you enjoy romances with complex relationships, dramatic twists, and strong character growth, this book is a must-read.

Love, Lies, and Loyalty: A Gripping Tale

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Heat Level: 🔥🔥🔥

As an avid listener on Audible, stumbling upon "The Wrong Bride (The Windsors #1)" by Catharina Maura was a serendipitous discovery. Narrated by the velvety tones of Sebastian York, a personal favorite, and with a synopsis promising intrigue, I eagerly delved into this romantic whirlwind.

This marks my first venture into Catharina Maura's literary world, and what an entrance it was. The narrative overflowed with angst, drama, heartache, and love, expertly crafted into words that resonated deeply. Maura's ability to articulate such complex emotions is nothing short of impressive.

The story follows Raven, thrust into an unexpected role on her sister's wedding day. Marrying Ares Windsor, her sister's elusive fiancé, Raven finds herself entangled in a web of conflicting emotions. Ares, the man she's always loved, remains fixated on her sister, adding layers of tension and longing to the narrative.

Maura skillfully weaves a tale of love, lies, and loyalty, keeping readers on the edge with every twist and turn. Raven's determination to win over Ares, despite the odds stacked against her, transforms the narrative into a captivating war of emotions.

"The Wrong Bride" is a compelling read that I wholeheartedly recommend to fellow romance enthusiasts. Catharina Maura's talent for storytelling shines brightly in this debut of The Windsors series. I eagerly anticipate diving into more of her works, eager to experience the rollercoaster of emotions she so expertly delivers.

Great story

A little predictable, but really well executed. I found Lucy’s narration sometimes a bit out of character and sounding haughty. In other parts it was right on for the character. I liked the story and how it unfolded. Worth a credit for sure!

Narcissism at its finest

This book has a very captivating storyline that keeps you interested. I do feel the main female is a bit of a pushover at first but she is also dealing with a bunch of narcissistic people around her. The main male is a bit controlling and vulgar and I really hate how he calls his love a slut continuously. Not really how you should show affection to someone you care about imo. But the storyline was good and I really loved the performance.
