Publisher's Summary

Right guy, wrong time.

Laney Hawton has a difficult life. She takes care of her younger brother, Dustin, because honestly? Who else will? Her mother is a menace, more interested in chasing unavailable men than raising children. And her older brother Cary is... Well. Anyway.

When Laney meets Shane, her whole world is turned upside down. But what do you do when you meet your soul mate at fourteen?

Right girl, wrong life.

Shane Mathers is chronically between couches, scraping by on the unexpected charity of a ten-year-old boy named Dustin. Through a violent twist of fate, Shane meets Laney and can't decide if the universe has finally given him a break, or just offered him his total demise, all wrapped up in an irresistible four-foot-something package that makes his knees buckle.

Fate is a cruel mistress, and she has it in for Shane. He knows that nothing this good comes without a price. The question is, will he survive it?

This is a gritty, slow-burn romance that takes place over several years in the late nineties.

What a voice

I’m the author so obvs I think the story is pretty rad, but holy cow did Jessie did do a good job on this narration. Hearing Cary come to life literally made my skin crawl. I can’t thank her enough for the EXCEPTIONAL job she did on this!

Amazing Listen - Gritty 90’s Perfection

This audio was perfection from start to finish.
The narration from Jessie Elwin is absolutely stellar. The story features multiple POV’s, a wide cast of characters, and even newspaper articles - and she nailed every single of one of them. Her voice is amazing and I can’t t wait to get my hands on more of her work.

Then there’s the story. The writing and the journey of these people completely blew me away. This will live rent-free in my head for the rest of my life.
Shane and Laney take us on a roller coaster of a ride that I would let wreck me again and again. Add in a heavy dose of awesome musical references, Buffy (shut up take my money), 90’s grunge, and angsty tension for DAYS.
Or perhaps more accurately - years?

A more perfect book does not exist. Fight me.
