About this listen
A New York Times best seller
An inspiring personal story of redemption, second chances, and the transformative power within us all, from the founder and CEO of the nonprofit charity: water.
At 28 years old, Scott Harrison had it all. A top nightclub promoter in New York City, his life was an endless cycle of drugs, booze, models - repeat. But 10 years in, desperately unhappy and morally bankrupt, he asked himself, "What would the exact opposite of my life look like?" Walking away from everything, Harrison spent the next 16 months on a hospital ship in West Africa and discovered his true calling. In 2006, with no money and less than no experience, Harrison founded charity: water. Today, his organization has raised more than $400 million to bring clean drinking water to more than 10 million people around the globe.
In Thirst, Harrison recounts the twists and turns that built charity: water into one of the most trusted and admired nonprofits in the world. Renowned for its 100 percent donation model, bold storytelling, imaginative branding, and radical commitment to transparency, charity: water has disrupted how social entrepreneurs work while inspiring millions of people to join its mission of bringing clean water to everyone on the planet within our lifetime.
In the tradition of such best-selling books as Shoe Dog and Mountains Beyond Mountains, Thirst is a riveting account of how to build a better charity, a better business, a better life - and a gritty tale that proves it’s never too late to make a change.
The author will donate 100 percent of his net proceeds from Thirst to fund charity: water projects around the world.

“Thirst is a story about all of us. In sharing his own remarkable journey, Scott shows us how to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, how to find hope in despair, and how simple acts of generosity can transform everything from what we believe about ourselves to how we connect with each other. In the end, Thirst is about what matters most. Love.” (Brené Brown, PhD, author of the number-one New York Times best-seller Braving the Wilderness)
“This book does for the soul what water does for a parched throat. Scott Harrison shares his extraordinary transformation from party animal into the visionary leader of one of the world’s most creative and crucial charities. His story will inspire you to think bigger, feel deeper, and give more.” (Adam Grant, New York Times best-selling author of Give and Take, Originals, and Option B with Sheryl Sandberg)
“Scott Harrison's Thirst is a hope-filled book about finding your purpose in life and pursuing it against all odds. From the many unbelievable stories Harrison shares from the field, to the moments when charity: water’s survival was in question, this book will inspire you to believe that you are more than the obstacles life has put in your path, and the world is more generous than it often seems.” (Arianna Huffington, founder of HuffPost, founder and CEO of Thrive Global)

An amazingly inspirational story!
This book is a must-read! It’s a story of one man finding his true purpose in life and going all-in, whatever the cost, and all for the benefit of people that will likely never know his name.
There is so much to learn from Scott’s book that I think I will hit play again right now.

I Made It Last
I’ve been in love with Charity:Water for years and so buying Thirst was the simplest part. I would listen and listen and then force myself to make it last as long as I could because I never wanted the fire in me to go out about this beautiful initiative. I’ll probably re-listen one day, and read it to my kids too. There’s so much, but most of it it joy and hope and love.

This is one of the best books I've ever spent time in. What Charity Water has done for the global water crisis is awesome and this story is a true testimony to the transformational power of Jesus. This is an incredibly inspirational read sure to ignite the fire of the Lord in many. May God continue to bless you, Charity Water as well as the thousands of His children you touch!!

Truly Moving
I discovered a social media post introducing SCOTT HARRISON and his book THIRST while in midst of our own challenging startup company - building a rural centralized water treatment utility and bulk water dispensing station just outside Fort St John, BC, Canada.
I read the post, was inspired, but then with my own challenges dismissed the post, yet for months the little I had learned about SCOTT AND HIS MEANINGFUL WORK IT LINGERED IN MY MIND. Having experienced financial challenges with my own startup water business, HEARING NO AS THE COMMON ANSWER, I couldn't even begin to imagine the challenges CHARITY:WATER experienced bringing WATER to better PEOPLE'S LIVELIHOODS in remote regions.
For sometime I'd felt the need to start the process of giving back, to give to a greater meaningful cause. I'd heard of the water challenges/water scarce situations, yet I held off waiting for just that right cause. I see now how selfish that was of me then, THIRST reaffirmed this for me and has given me a whole new outlook to what it is that I actually do in life and why I started my water business to begin with. THIRST moved my preception of just how little, small my current financial challenges really are.
I'm looking forward to give now, in some creative way, even though I face financial challenges with my business at this time because at the end of it all it fits with why I ventured in the direction of an innovative startup to provide a better water quality to those in need.
I look forward to hearing more of CHARITY:WATER and be a part of a global movement, a cause which not only brings clean water to those in need, BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY REUNITES NATIONS CLOSER EACH MOMENT OF EVERY DAY.

One of the most powerful and inspiring books I’ve ever read
One of the most powerful, positive and uplifting books I’ve ever read. You will laugh and you will cry many many times listening to this and you will be inspired by this. This is the shot in the arm of perspective the second vaccine dose and antidote to a jaded first world problem life. I love it.

GREAT BOOK
I started Facebook because I am a hair stylist that works with Aveda. our Earth month charity program goes to charity water and I thought it would be great to hear about where it all started.
I was a little hesitant to to read it because let's face it this is not the style of book I usually go for. but it surprised me through and through, what a great read, never wanted to stop.
so many different emotions the whole way through, I read the audiobook for this and so many times on my way to work I would be sobbing while listening. happy and sad tears.
just a great book and it definitely makes me happy to know that this is the charity that we chose to support.
