Publisher's Summary
For a World War veteran like Mark Tudor, death is an old acquaintance. Unfortunately, a person never becomes truly numb to its sting.
A good Gajur gave his life. Will that sacrifice help bring the galaxy back to balance? Or topple known space into a war to end all wars? Armagost wasn't the only light snuffed prematurely. The attack destroyed an irreplaceable piece of Valint's life, as well.
Now, Mark must toe the delicate line between lawman and friend, partner and lover.
With those in power divided, the work has only begun. The galaxy no longer needs a maker of peace, but a lobbyist and negotiator. In order to deconstruct the entombed and corrupt system, Mark and the gang must stack the deck in their favor. If only things were that simple.
Someone is targeting Ja-Ra's people galaxy-wide. The hot-blooded murder kitties are out to avenge Jarls Vane. And the bureaucratic toads carry legendary grudges. But Mark's wrath is reserved for one group, and one group only.
Stillness.
The assassins will answer for the lives they took. And Mark will wrestle Tan back from their clutches if it means he's got to cut down every wicked Lyrae to do it.

Fantastic series, characters and narration.
This series is the perfect package. When all parts come together like this, magic happens. Man alive, Tom Taylorson is beyond phenomenal. Gravitas, timbre, clear diction, male and female voices all are convincing and unique. He is a master narrator and among the best today IMHO.
Fantastic. A must buy. Do not deny yourself the enjoyment of a well written series with fantastic pacing. Surprisingly deep thoughts and conversations between characters, plenty of action and badass moments but time is given to what makes people, even heroes real…which are the times between moments, or after the action. Space is given to feelings and processing loss or violence, but it isn’t overwrought delusional self talk, or pithy sayings meant to wipe the slate clean for the MC. This adds weight to the journey of these characters but it doesn’t drag like accrued emotional baggage, it imparts meaning to the story and those moments when the adrenaline runs out. While the story does this well, it never dwells overlong, it just builds a story that I think most of us can identify with, if not the setting and scenarios then certainly the challenges and heartbreak.
Well done.
