Would you tempt even the most dangerous fate to save the ones you love?
Briseis has one chance to save her mother, but she’ll need to do the impossible: find the last fragment of the deadly Absyrtus Heart. To locate the missing piece, she must turn to the blood relatives she’s never known, learn about their secret powers, and take her place in their ancient lineage.
But Briseis is not the only one who wants the Heart, and her enemies will stop at nothing to fulfill their own ruthless plans. The fates tell of a truly dangerous journey, one that could end in more heartache, more death. Strengthened by the sisterhood of ancient magic, can Briseis harness her power to save the people she loves most?

Wonderful
I loved this every second. I wish the author developed more of the Jason line but it made sense she didn't since it was Bri's hero's journey.
I am THANKFUL for the Marie outcome since I was a little offput by it at first once we found out here age.
Gay, Family, Betrayal and redemption, and Black girl magic. A MUST read.

heart warming and filled to the brim with mythology
this is amazing sequel to This poison heart. The vibe is different; here there is more movement, more physical action, yet I found it just as comforting as the first book. the narrative isn't trying to hide anything from us, instead putting emphasis on what can be revealed. the narration, for it's part, is personal and close to Bri's mind, not spoiling but calling a non-mortal "this dude" in the description paragraph got me wheezing. gods was I happy with the mythological references we got here.
shout out to the wonderful narrator who gives voice and life to the characters and story. she is simply brilliant.
