Publisher's Summary

The ancient historian Josephus is key to a proper understanding of the time of Christ and the early church era. This recording, an abridged paraphrase of two Josephus histories, will transport you back in time to the period 37 B.C. to A.D. 70, from the time Herod took Jerusalem to become "King of the Jews," to the Roman destruction of Jerusalem and its temple.

Thrones of blood, Wow.

Truly there was a lot of blood in this work of Josephus. I want to listen to it again in the future. The Roman's pictured here were greedy and paranoid really afraid of losing their reign, but I guess that was part of what made them such a formidable force. There isn't much of Old Testament and little is said of John the Baptist or Jesus, but he does affirm that Jesus rose from the dead. A great deal is given about the war against the Jews and the destruction Jerusalem. I am very pleased that I listened to this book and highly recommend it for a quick overview of a lot of history.
