To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before is now a major motion picture streaming on Netflix!

What if all the crushes you ever had found out how you felt about them...all at once?

Sixteen-year-old Lara Jean Song keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her. They aren’t love letters that anyone else wrote for her; these are ones she’s written. One for every boy she’s ever loved - five in all. When she writes, she pours out her heart and soul and says all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly, Lara Jean’s love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

Many people equate "growing up" with "growing serious." But while interests may change over time, age does not have to be the deciding factor in what games you play, movies, or books you enjoy. Young adult novels are the perfect example of this. Though written with a teenage audience in mind, women of all ages are sure to enjoy the genre’s hallmarks: strong yet flawed characters, heartbreaking twists and turns, romance, and drama.

Very different from Netflix!

I absolutely loved the Netflix series! I think they made a lot of great choices with the movies.
The story is very different. The essence is similar but many different events. I thought Peter and Chris in the book can have cringy moments - I really like how they're portrayed in the Netflix series instead. It's nice to see more Josh in the book.

Good listen

It took me a while to get into this book but once I did I enjoyed it. The narrator’s voice is lovely

Pretty good but...

Overall it's a good book. It's way more detailed than the movie. There's more interaction with Josh which was a nice little twist.
However, I felt like it was a bit childish when Lara Jean and Margo both refer to their parents as "mommy" and "daddy" despite being over 16. No one I've known called their parents that when they were that age. So it felt a bit weird.
The other part I had a problem with was when the male voices were pretty much the same. However, the narrator lucked out because it was stated who was talking or it was just one male in particular who would take over the conversation.

So definitely a recommended read if you're looking for something light with a little dash of teenage drama and a splice of love and loss.

Great story

I really enjoyed the movie, so I decided to have a listen to the book! The story is light and cute - definitely great for when you need background noise while working. The only complaint I have is some of the voices the narrator did really irritated me, they were like listening to nails on a chalkboard (Josh, Chris and the dad) I understand that 2/3 of those voices are male voices so it's not fair of me to expect any better.

Wasn’t what I expected - it was better

Love the story, love the characters. It has a sweetness to it that I didn’t expect and it’s a refreshing change. Take me a little while to get caught by the story, but once caught, it flew by.

cute

Every bit predictable. It's apparent it's a juvenile author. The part where they refer to the parents as "Mommy and Daddy" is annoying. Besides that, it's easy to continue listening and the narrator was very talented. It's a good mindless listen.

Protagonist acts like a big baby

I wouldn’t like this book even if I were 10 years old, I would think it was too babyish. I cringe at the main character — the way she is portrayed and the language that the author puts in her mouth. Ugh.

It was okay

It was alright. The story was predictable and forgot a few things along the way, but it was cute. The narration really bothered me. For the main character and narration, she was great, but for every other character (especially the guys), she used a surfer accent with a lot of vocal fry.
