Publisher's Summary
As the pit fighters face new threats and old enemies, the arena will be awash in blood, in the fifth volume of this thrilling fantasy series.
Goll quickly realizes he may have killed one opponent too many when he confronts the wrath of a dead gladiator’s stable in a slew of blood matches. Outside the Pit, Brozz fights for his life and Borchus finds refuge with an old friend.
Struggling to recover from his wounds and seeking a purpose, Halm of Zhiberia discovers that giving up a pit fighter’s life isn’t as easy as it seems . . . nor is it his decision alone. And in the west, a monstrous enemy makes itself known—and positions itself to strike at both the games and Sunja’s heart.

5 books in and still delivering!
I am loving this series. Every interaction and event is significant, every character well thought out and developed. The fights in the arena are epic but the story continues on even outside of the arena. Keeping up with what is happening to Halm and the rest of the 10 is one of the best parts of my day (2 hour commute daily listening to this series). John Lee is a fantastic narrator and brings life to an already exhilarating story. I can't wait to see what is in store for the future.

This is an epic saga
I am eagerly awaiting the next instalment of this series.
I wasn’t sure I would enjoy it and to be honest John Lees narration took a bit to get used to (his normal voice sounds a bit like Elaine’s old boss on Seinfield lol)
But once I got over that I have thoroughly enjoyed his style of narration… the story is deeply engrossing and the characters compelling … I caught myself answering my hubby with “aye that” the other day - if you read the books you will understand why and hopefully love them as much as I do!! :0)

Good series
I have really enjoyed the series so far and the character development that has taken place. I am still not sure what the long term goal is for the series is though. If there isn't some indication by the next book then it will be time to move on. The plot is moving too slow for my personal tastes at this point so there needs to be a clear story arc.
