About this listen

Jack Ryan Jr. finds that the scars of war can last a lifetime in this entry in Tom Clancy's number one New York Times best-selling series.

Twenty-six years ago, Dr. Cathy Ryan restored the eyesight of a young Bosnian girl who had been injured during an attack in the Bosnian War. Today, her son, Jack Ryan Jr. has agreed to track down the young woman and deliver a letter from his mother. What he finds shocks them both.

The helpless child has grown into a remarkable woman. Aida Curic is a self-possessed beauty with a big heart and an even bigger secret who runs a controversial refugee agency near Sarajevo. Jack finds himself deeply drawn to both her and her country but soon finds himself in the crosshairs of the seething ethnic tensions and ancient blood feuds of the Balkans, the region of Europe where empires go to die. If Jack can't navigate the world of secret service agencies, special operators, and local mafias to save Aida, Sarajevo will prove the be the fuse that lights the next world war.

Tom Clancy's Legacy...

I have been a lifelong fan of Tom Clancy, specifically the Jack Ryan Universe. While I am grateful the series lives on, I am noticing that the main character (Usually Jack or Junior) are veering off-script. Specifically Junior and his womanly-desires-and-comments, and lack of discipline which seems to vary book by book. To me, the Ryan's have always been quite classy. I hope the books end up returning to the more classy version of the character.

Downhill

The last couple of stories have declined in all aspects. It’s disappointing. Now I’ll have to find another series.

Any suggestions?

Entertaining but predictable

Tough to go wrong with a Clancy narrated by Mr Brick but book is a bit slow and takes forever to develop a very predictable story. Great listen thou.

Not his greatest

This book has it's moments but wouldn't buy it again if I had a choice. This coming from someone who has every Jack Ryan book.

Disappointing

I felt ashamed of Jack Ryan Jr’s performance. He acted like a teenage boy instead of the intellectual covert operative. This was not nearly as good as previous books in the series. As I am listening in order, I hope the rest are better than this one.

Another SMASHING hit for young Jack

Another prospect presented and tragically taken away by fate but at least he kept his head (barely). Campus life for this student of the world.

Horrible

#Audible1

I fear that the Tom Clancy universe is on a steady decline. This story was full of plot holes. There are also so many instances where Jack Jr. acted so out of his character that you wonder whether he is in the same universe as the other novels. Too bad Mark Greaney is no longer writing.
