About this listen
Sam doesn’t think love is in the cards. The cards disagree.
When Phoebe Stevens’ life implodes in a spectacularly public fashion, she’s desperate to escape Manhattan. So the offer of a job setting up a new Vermont gastropub couldn’t come at a better time. Driving a U-Haul on winding mountain roads is Phoebe’s personal version of hell. But when the caretaker of her guesthouse answers the door tousled, shirtless, and baking cinnamon rolls, her first impression of Vermont dramatically improves.
Sam Tremblay believes everyone gets one true love, but he’s already blown his chance. He’s spent five years avoiding relationships. Now he’s back in Colebury where sunrise tarot draws and forest hikes soothe his soul. But why do the tarot cards keep showing him this nonsense about soul mates? Could it have anything to do with the jaded city girl on his doorstep?
Playing tour guide is fun, but taste-testing her culinary creations as she shimmies her luscious hips around his kitchen is downright irresistible. Soon their chemistry burns hotter than the pub’s wood-fired oven.
Has fate brought them together for a summer of love...or a lifetime of happiness?

A Delightful Escape: A Sweet Romance with a Hint of Spice
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐1/2
Heat Level: 🔥🔥
📚E-BOOK📚&🎧AUDIO🎧
"Touchstone," the first book in Karen Stivali's Speakeasy Taproom Series, was my introduction to this author, and it was a pleasant, fast-paced romance that served as a refreshing cleanser from my previous reads.
The story follows Phoebe Stevens, who escapes to Vermont after a public catastrophe in Manhattan, and Sam Trembley, a man convinced he's missed his one true love. Their paths cross in the most serendipitous way when Phoebe, in desperate need of a change, takes a job setting up a new gastropub. Sam, with his belief in tarot and soulmates, is reluctantly drawn to the jaded city girl who shows up at his doorstep.
Stivali's narrative is smooth, filled with delightful moments of culinary creations and tarot card readings that hint at a deeper connection between the characters. The chemistry between Phoebe and Sam is undeniable, and their interactions are both fun and heartwarming, especially as Sam plays tour guide and Phoebe works her magic in the kitchen.
Narrators Patrick Zeller and Tanya Eby bring the characters to life with engaging performances, enhancing the overall listening experience. While the romance is sweet with just a bit of spice—enough to keep things interesting without overwhelming the story—the pacing and character development make "Touchstone" a charming read.
Overall, "Touchstone" is an enjoyable escape into a world where fate and food intertwine, proving that sometimes love can indeed be in the cards.

Makes you want to cook with some maple syrup
It was fun to back in the world of True North and see all the cameos. The book was a pretty non-conflict love story, with a pretty simple plot. Her boyfriend breaks up with her and costs her her job, she gets a new job and picks up and moves to Vermont, she meets a guy who sells crystals and he falls instantly in love with her, she is good at her job, she’s offered a job back in the city, while visiting to interview she realizes that she’s in love and rushes home to be with her man.

Entertaining Read
This is a fun, entertaining read. Sam and Phoebe are interesting, entertaining, relatable, complex, entertaining, intriguing characters. They each captured my attention from their first appearance on page. Their romance was fun to read with all it’s twists and turns. It was very fitting for this couple. The various secondary characters added to the fabric of the story.
I enjoyed the audio version of this story and the narrators.
