Publisher's Summary
New York Times best-selling author Diane Mott Davidson serves up tantalizing mysteries garnished with heart-stopping suspense and wry humor. In this tempting tale, caterer and sometimes sleuth Goldy Shulz proves she is one “tough cookie” as she faces threats to her business, her family, and her very life.
Everything seems to be going wrong for Goldy. The health inspector has shut down her catering business in Aspen Meadow, Colorado, due to non-standard plumbing. When she hosts a live cooking show for PBS, she drops eggshells into the cookie dough. On the way home from that humiliating experience, she finds the chairman of the State Parole Board - dead with hundred dollar bills drifting in the snow around him. Goldy’s troubles really begin, however, when the police launch a murder investigation and drag her into the middle of it.
Barbara Rosenblat’s sparkling performance ensures you’ll savor Goldy’s exciting escapades and each of her mouth-watering menus.

Love the book, hate her kid
Let me be clear...I love the Goldy Bear series. They're easily my favourite cozy culinary mysteries and I've read every one. I'm now listening to them in order. The audiobooks are just as enjoyable as the print versions and the narrator is fantastic. The one thing I have trouble with is Goldy's son Arch. Here's why:
He's a whiny, self-centred, selfish little brat and Goldy lets him disrespect her and get away with murder. I have no idea why she lets her son get away with this awful behaviour, but it's frustrating as heck to hear him b*tching at her again and again. I just want to jump into the book and smack him upside the head.
OK, not really, but you get my point.
I do recommend the book but with a caveat... Be prepared to hate Arch with a fiery passion while you enjoy the story.

Love this series
I would highly recommend this series to anyone looking for a very good culinary mystery series, I have been through the series 3 times already, starting on my fourth! I love the author, narrator, series in its entirety, each individual book, love goldie, adore Tom, wish I had a friend like Marla! Lol! The only thorn is arch! Arches behavior, although fictional of course makes me grit my teeth in anger and discussed, and I know this is just a book, but I cannot understand how and why Goldie and Tom both so strong in every other way do not discipline arch for his many behavioural issues. He gets away with way too much. if I ever even would have thought of speaking to my parents in that way, or behaving as arch does much of the time, well... wow!!!
