World-renowned for its Delft pottery, windmills, and tulips, the Netherlands is also famous for its free-spirited capital, Amsterdam. Found in the northwestern part of Europe, the small country boasts the Frisian Islands, canals and bridges, farmlands, beautiful villages, and highly populated cities.
Amsterdam is the most popular city in the country because of the party scene, the red light district, the Anne Frank House, art museums, medieval architecture, and scenic canals. Tourists can start from this city and take advantage of different day tours to check out different places around the country.
The Hague is known as the Dutch royal family's home as well as the seat of government. Zaanse Schans and Volendam are popular for their customs, windmills, costumes, and traditional Dutch houses. The town of Lisse is a popular tourist spot for its flowers during spring. The town of Alkmaar is a great place to visit for its cheese market.
The Netherlands is known for its cuisine, which basically consists of vegetables and meat, Dutch apple pie, smoked sausage, and fried meatballs. Tourists can also opt to dine in different international restaurants around the country. In terms of transportation, tourists can get around by buses and trains. Because of the good roads and flat land, they can also go cycling.
