About this listen
Two decades have passed since the three musketeers triumphed over Cardinal Richelieu and Milady. Time has weakened their resolve and dispersed their loyalties. But treasons and stratagems still cry out for justice: civil war endangers the throne of France, while in England, Cromwell threatens to send Charles I to the scaffold. Dumas brings his immortal quartet out of retirement to cross swords with time, the malevolence of men, and the forces of history. But their greatest test is a titanic struggle with the son of Milady, who wears the face of Evil.

STAY AWAY! Pay for the John Lee version instead; it’s worth the credit.
Devastated to share that this amazing work by Dumas is done no justice w/ this performance. Truly baffling choices for the character voices. Why does d’artagnan sound SO weird & haughty & haggard??
Also pretty sure the performer mixes the voices up a few times. Like he’ll do someone else’s voice by mistake. Makes it all very hard to follow. I couldn’t make it past the three hour mark & I hadn’t retained a thing.
The John Lee version is way better, easier to listen to, includes a missing chapter & feels like a better translation, more true to the spirit and energy Dumas deserves.
