So slow and so contrived
I seem to be in the minority here so take this review with a grain of salt -- but I did not like this book at all. Like others I enjoy the Eddy Flynn books and thought this would be of similar quality but I am afraid not. I confess however that I only got halfway through it before my patience snapped. The first part of the book is excruciatingly slow but I hung in for the "twist". It was not worth the wait so even though I see from other reviews that there are more to come, I have decided it is not worth the wait. There are so many discrepancies in the story that I could just not stick with it. For example, someone who wants to keep a low profile and is tight with money buys a car. Is it perhaps a Ford Focus or Toyota Corolla? No - how about a Maserati instead. So many holes in the plot and the characters are just not that interesting. I also find the dialogue highly repetitive, with the same points being made over and over as if the author forgot that he had already established that someone was upset or annoyed or whatever. I can only imagine that the later twists are just as unlikely so I am afraid I am out. But I have not given up on Mr. Cavanagh and Eddy Flynn. Eddy has unlikely, almost superhero powers, but at least the stories are compelling and the legal maneuvers very interesting.
