About this listen
In Understanding Your Brain and Mind, you’ll hear from more than 40 leading scientists with special insight into the title question. Among many others, you’ll meet luminaries such as Christof Koch, president and chief scientific officer of the Allen Institute of Brain Science in Seattle; Baroness Susan Greenfield, Parkinson’s disease and Alzheimer’s disease researcher and member of the House of Lords; Robert Stickgold, director of the Center of Sleep and Cognition at Harvard; and renowned scientist Jared Diamond, the author of best-selling books including Guns, Germs, and Steel.
Can our physical brains fully explain the phenomenon of our minds? The same question that Descartes pondered in the 17th century continues to fascinate us in the 21st.
Your host, celebrated neuroscientist Dr. Robert Lawrence Kuhn, engages luminaries across fields to try to answer this perplexing question. Each series of one-on-one interviews responds to a different aspect of the fascinating relationship between brain and mind. Special attention is given to the structure and operation of the brain, the subconscious mind, sleep and dreams, and brain disorders.
Now is your chance to indulge every curiosity you’ve ever had about the brain with a chorus of leading experts.
This audio series is brought to you by Learn25, a leading producer of lecture programs by top university professors. Closer to Truth invites the world’s foremost scientists, philosophers, and creative thinkers to debate the deepest questions facing humanity: questions of consciousness, the cosmos, and meaning.

Heavy and kind of boring
The first 2 chapters were boring and repetitive. I skippped through. It got a little interesting briefly but I lost interest again. Everyone being interviewed talks so fast and uses scientific jargon so it's challenging to follow. I didn't finish it
