About this listen
Billie Rush can't stop writing pop songs. The kind of songs that her rock band, The Shrikes, would never play. After their successful first album, the pressure for a perfect follow-up is crushing her creativity. Billie's new songs and sound need an outlet, but she's not just going to give them away to anyone.
Vero De Luca is always in the limelight for making mistakes. The daughter of a famous musician, she's trying to make smart decisions for the first time in her life as she sets off on a solo career after years in a popular all-female group. Though she knows she's fully capable of writing her own songs, the label insists that her first single needs a major name behind it, not just her own.
Both women think that working together sounds like a match made in hell. Though they can hardly stand each other, sparks start to fly when they're writing the new single, "Undone".
Will they go up in flames or find a way to work together through the blaze?
Contains mature themes.

cute short romance
Representation note: lesbian and unlabeled pairing
I prefer my romances slightly longer, but this was quite good and Lori Prince is always a pleasure to listen to. The resolution and ending could have been fleshed out more, but otherwise no complaints. There was only one inconsistency big enough to momentarily break the narrative's spell for me so either the other reviewer had more brain fog than they thought or I just don't care about little things as much. I'd rate the book 4.5 stars if I could because of these minor issues, but romance is light entertainment for me so it's not enough to knock off a full star in my opinion.

Great potential but needs an editor
The book has such great potential but I had to DNF it because the inconsistencies kept pulling me out of the story. Being surprised by who Vero was dating after being told by Lucas, kicking shut doors that had just been closed to name a couple of examples.
If my memory and brain fog weren't so terrible I might have been able to disregard them but as it is I was left confused and struggled to get back into the flow.
It felt like a bunch of scenes written out of order had been roughly pasted together.
Even still, the book shows a lot of promise, it just needed more work before publishing. The author should definitely be proud of what they've created here and I hope they read this review as a vote of encouragement and not as a negative critique. If this story ever gets redone with the help of an editor I'll be eager to give it another shot.
