Publisher's Summary

The bodies are found in towns and cities around Puget Sound. The young women who are the victims had nothing in common - except the agony of their final moments. But somebody carefully chose them to stalk, capture, and torture...a depraved killer whose cunning is matched only by the depth of his bloodlust. But the dying has only just begun. And the next victim will be the most shocking of all....

Ugggg with the narrator

Gruesome story but really kept my attention. Almost couldn’t continue as the narrator is definitely not my favorite. He should work on not over pronouncing simple words like “to” and “the”, etc.

A good story but...

A good story but fairly graphic, will try to read the next book in the series to see if I’ll see it through to the end

Good book, but graphic

Enjoyed the story, narriation and pace. However, this book is quite graphic. It goes into details which not everyone can handle. If you are sensitive to graphic details, listen with caution.

Enjoyable but flawed

I've read other books by this author and thoroughly enjoyed them, so started this series. The story was ok for the most part. I found it predictable though, and the two detectives were ridiculously incompetent. The author doesn't write women's perspective very well, I found that the narrators voice was sometimes almost robotic at times which was distracting.
I will not be continuing in this series.

Warning: Disturbingly Graphic

I know other reviewers have commented on the content of this book - and to their credit, the producers include a disclaimer in the plot summary - but I can't emphasize enough how viscerally uncomfortable Gregg Olsen makes his readers/listeners. Police Investigator 'Kendall Stark' and Forensic Pathologist 'Birdy Waterman' headline a cast of investigators, reporters, perpetrators, and victims relating an "out-of-the-headlines" procedural that pushes boundaries of comfort.

Sadly, Corey M. Snow doesn't improve the situation with an oddly unemotive matter-of-fact performance that emphasizes the hyperrealistic - almost documentary - tone of the book. His narration is undeniably professional.. but only tolerable with a playback speed set at 1.15X. Tantor Audio Inc. should have cast this project better.

Altogether, 'Victim Six' borders on the "sick". While I appreciate Olsen's dedication to realism, he almost takes glee in making his readers/listeners experience sadistic object-use gang rape & agonizing, vicious torture-murder in a shockingly lifelike manner. I didn't enjoy the over-the-top verisimilitude. I actually felt nauseous at times.
This 4.5/10-star offering wasn't a total waste of time as a 'Plus' selection, I guess.. but you are a masochist if you pay a Credit for it.
