On October 3, 1951, the New York Giants' Bobby Thompson hit a dramatic ninth-inning, game-winning home run off the Brooklyn Dodgers' Ralpha Branca at the Polo Grounds in the decisive third game of a three-game playoff to win the National League pennant.
