Publisher's Summary
This program is read by the author.
Based on her inspiring, viral 2018 commencement speech to Barnard College’s graduates in New York City, New York Times best-selling author, two-time Olympic gold medalist, and FIFA World Cup champion Abby Wambach delivers her empowering rally cry for women to unleash their individual power, unite with their pack, and emerge victorious together.
Abby Wambach became a champion because of her incredible talent as a soccer player. She became an icon because of her remarkable wisdom as a leader. As the cocaptain of the 2015 Women’s World Cup Champion Team, she created a culture not just of excellence, but of honor, commitment, resilience, and sisterhood. She helped transform a group of individual women into one of the most successful, powerful, and united wolf packs of all time. In her retirement, Abby’s ready to do the same for her new team: all women everywhere.
In WOLFPACK, Abby’s message to women is: We have never been Little Red Riding Hood. We are the wolves. We must wander off the path and blaze a new one: together.
She insists women must let go of old rules of leadership that neither include or serve them. She’s created a new set of wolf pack rules to help women unleash their individual power, unite with their wolf pack, and change the landscape of their lives and world: from the family room to the board room to the White House.
- Make failure your fuel: Transform failure to wisdom and power.
- Lead from the bench: Lead from wherever you are.
- Champion each other: Claim each woman’s victory as your own.
- Demand the effing ball: Don’t ask permission: Take what you’ve earned.
In Abby’s vision, we are not Little Red Riding Hoods, staying on the path because we’re told to. We are the wolves, fighting for a better tomorrow for ourselves, our pack, and all the future wolves who will come after us.

Story
There is a voice of longing inside each woman. We strive so mightily to be good: good partners, daughters, mothers, employees, and friends. We hope all this striving will make us feel alive. Instead, it leaves us feeling weary, stuck, overwhelmed, and underwhelmed. We look at our lives and wonder: Wasn’t it all supposed to be more beautiful than this? We quickly silence that question, telling ourselves to be grateful, hiding our discontent—even from ourselves.

Story
Just when Glennon Doyle Melton was beginning to feel she had it all figured out - three happy children, a doting spouse, and a writing career so successful that her first book catapulted to the top of the New York Times best seller list - her husband revealed his infidelity and she was forced to realize that nothing was as it seemed. A recovering alcoholic and bulimic, Glennon found that rock bottom was a familiar place. In the midst of crisis, she knew to hold on to what she discovered in recovery: that her deepest pain has always held within it an invitation to a richer life.

Combining cutting-edge research in genetics, gender, behavior, and cognition - with examples from their own lives and those of other successful women in politics, media, and business - Kay and Shipman go beyond admonishing women to "lean in".

What the critics say
“Abby is a relatable revolutionary - with WOLFPACK, she inspires the confidence, leadership, and sisterhood we all so desperately need right now.” (Amy Schumer)
“I would follow Abby Wambach into any battlefield. I would follow her not because she is a bold leader (although she is one), but because she leads from BESIDE women, not from AHEAD of us...Abby Wambach is what the next level of women’s revolution will look like, and I’m DOWN.” (Elizabeth Gilbert, best-selling author of Eat, Pray, Love)

Totally Relatable
This book is so inspirational and so important for women and girls to hear so that they know that they can be themselves. But not limited to this gender as it shows her perspective but in reality what we all face at times. The empty feeling when something ends and the struggle to move forward!! Love this book!!

Shortest book, but nonetheless deeply profound
My only wish was that this book was longer...yep, it was that good.

Life altering!
I heard about Wolfpack through Brene Brown’s podcast and the We Can Do Hard Things podcast.
It is a small book packed with a throat punch of wisdom around leadership and interactions with those around you. Abby also speaks about how leadership also happens from the bench/sidelines. The message in this book has really helped me to evaluate the kind of friend and leader I want to be within my community.
If this isn’t already in your audiobook or book library, I highly recommend you add it immediately! :)

Great quick read
This is a fabulous quick read regardless of whether you play a sport and regardless of your sex. Bottom line of leadership in this book - you can’t do it alone. You need a pack.

Short, inspiring, authentic & awesome
Although I am now confused as to whether I am a wolf or a GD Cheetah (Untamed, Glennon Doyke), there is clarity of so much more after reading Wolfpack.
A leadership book to rival any other ever written for its simplistic explanation for huge, confusing ideologies that have been on a constant loop in my head.
But can a wolf lead a pack of GD Cheetahs? This is what I have now tasked myself to discover.
Thank you Abby, you inspire women, men, and children in all different sorts of ways with much more talent in things totally outside of soccer than I think you ever had the time or capacity to even recognize existed within you. This book allowed us to glimpse how it can feel when that becomes clear to the person and the difference in how that person thinks, talks, walks, etc. Self-confidence is just one of the many tools you utilize in becoming the most authentic version of yourself you have allowed yourself to be. You truly are an inspiration
