About this listen

After bursting onto the fantasy scene with his acclaimed debut novel, Elantris, and following up with his blockbuster Mistborn trilogy, Brandon Sanderson proves again that he is today’s leading master of what Tolkien called “secondary creation”, the invention of whole worlds, complete with magics and myths all their own.

Warbreaker is the story of two sisters, who happen to be princesses, the god king one of them has to marry, the lesser god who doesn’t like his job, and the immortal who’s still trying to undo the mistakes he made hundreds of years ago.

Their world is one in which those who die in glory return as gods to live confined to a pantheon in Hallandren’s capital city and where a power known as BioChromatic magic is based on an essence known as breath that can only be collected one unit at a time from individual people.

By using breath and drawing upon the color in everyday objects, all manner of miracles and mischief can be accomplished. It will take considerable quantities of each to resolve all the challenges facing Vivenna and Siri, princesses of Idris; Susebron the god king; Lightsong, reluctant god of bravery, and mysterious Vasher, the Warbreaker.

another Sanderson high hitter

Sanderson's magic system is so unique on this planet and feels very natural and powerful. It breaths life and color into well ritten and gripping story.

Incredible 😃

“War Breaker the Peaceful” WoW, from start to finish, this novel’s incredible & the full-cast, dramatized adaptation’s brilliant. It’s now 1 of my favourite books 📚 ♥️

Worst audio quality I've experienced on this app.

I do not recommend this to anyone looking to listen while drifting off to sleep.

The audio quality and audio engineering are very bad.

The constant background crowd noises, shuffling and clanging, are too loud and are overlayed with low bitrate (poor audio quality) speech. I don't mind sound effects if the engineering is done right and properly balanced.

I've tried in my car audio, my receiver, and even stopped so low as to try Alexa. You have to crank the audio too loud to hear the fuzzy words clearly over the cacophony background.

I heard better quality MP3s back in 1995.

Warbreaker Trilogy 1 - 3

what an amazing series. after listening to this kind of audio series, listening to a normal novel is going to be really boring. I can't wait to get into more of them.

Good but not Sanderson's best

the world building and characters were fun and enjoyable. The last act felt rushed, and everything was wrapped up quite conveniently.

Ambiance is Louder that the Reading

In dramatic moments, the fanfare makes it very hard to hear the actual reading.
