What the critics say

"Dr. Estes’s palpable emotional engagement (and obvious desire to speak to those in pain) can be heard in the flowing, calming sound she creates with each interlocking syllable, reflective pause, and change in vocal intensity. The arresting beauty in both her writing and narrative performance will make listeners believe that they can internalize the mother’s ability to soothe themselves and find emotional balance, whether or not they ever received such mothering." A Path to Lead Myself On

Far more comprehensive than any self help book I’ve ever read. A deep understanding of my own psyche and clear instructions on what to do with the parts of me that are not quite yet whole.

Healing offered in the form of story telling

I found that this listen was incredibly healing, Clarissa is a true storytellar. While she tells tales, she is offering them up with guidance in a calm assuring voice. She is an example of an external mother archetype, a representation of what this book is about. Beautiful

Dr. Pinkola Estés never disappoints

A wonderful collection of unique stories, beautifully told, and respectfully and expertly mined for their timeless lessons. There is healing in these stories for the abandoned, hungry, cold child who can learn to warm themselves by the hearth of their own fire, lit by the inextinguishable spark of their intuition.

interesting and inspiring

I'm not Jungian, so I may be missing a layer of the narrative. The allegory and symbolism were a bit random. nice and encouraging listen for this unmothered child.
