About this listen
From the bestselling author of the Eagles of the Empire novels comes the epic story of Caratacus: a barbarian who united tribes to raise an army against mighty Rome...
The Romans invaded Britannia in AD 43 confident of victory. They swept through a divided and ill-equipped enemy, scattered across tough terrain. But one man was not prepared to surrender. Caratacus - quick-witted youngest son of a a tribal king - had been trained from birth to be a warrior of power and grit. Sent to be schooled by the Druids in his boyhood, his training meant that an already strong and cunning prince returned to his father's kingdom as a war machine...
With Caratacus driving them forward, the tribes prepare to repulse an enemy anticipating an easy victory. Fighting not only to stay alive but for their very way of life, these men form a mighty force. The battle is on!
The brand new series from the Sunday Times bestselling authors of Invader and Pirata: Warrior, the story of Britannia's barbarian warlord Caratacus.

If adjusting to the rigours of military life isn't difficult enough for the bookish young man, he also has to contend with the disgust of his colleagues when, because of his imperial connections, he is appointed a rank above them.

Thrilling, authentic, and action packed, this novel introduces soldier hero Marcus Valerius: a centurion stationed on Hadrian's Wall in the second century during a revolt against the Roman Empire. Marcus Valerius Aquila has scarcely landed in Britannia when he has to run for his life - condemned to dishonorable death by power-crazed emperor Commodus. The plan is to take a new name, serve in an obscure regiment on Hadrian's Wall, and lie low until he can hope for justice.

Caratacus’s Story narrated by Jonathon Keeble
I know Caratacus from Simon Scarrow’s Eagle of the Empire series. “SPOILER ALERT “. This is not Caratacus verses the Romans. It’s the story of Caratacus in his very early beginnings. Before he unites the tribes and fights Rome. He fights the tribes in his own home land . It takes place before Emperor Claudius invaded Britannica . Although Jonathon Keeble is an amazing narrator. One of the very best narrators I’ve ever listen too. He’s a fantastic voice actor. Each character has an unique voice He makes the story better than it is. I do not believe Simon Scarrow wrote much of the story. It’s written by T J Andrews. That much I’m sure. This book is just Okay , compared to Simon Scarrow’s Eagle of the Empire Novels. But I have already listen to all 22 books in the Eagles of the Empire series . That’s how good that series is !!!
