Publisher's Summary

From Joshua Dalzelle, author of the best-selling Omega Force series, comes an all new vision of humanity's future.

In the 25th century, humans have conquered space. The advent of faster-than-light travel has opened up hundreds of habitable planets for colonization, and humans have exploited the virtually limitless space and resources for hundreds of years with impunity. So complacent have they become with the overabundance that armed conflict is a thing of the past, and their machines of war are obsolete and decrepit. What would happen if they were suddenly threatened by a terrifying new enemy? Would humanity fold and surrender, or would they return to their evolutionary roots and meet force with force?

One ship - and one captain - will soon be faced with this very choice.

Awesome!! Great road trip material

I listened to it while I was driving for 8 hours on a road trip. Very gripping and my road trip flew by! I really like the way the story mood is set from the very beginning then leading into intensity. I’m excited to listen to book 2 on my way back

Not quite the sum of its parts

Plot was actually vwry good. I'm not sire of ots the writing oe the narration but the details don't live up the book's potential.

Amazing narration!

Was almost like listening to a movie. Incredibly well written book and the narrator brought it to life.

An excellent read

A good read. Excellent narration. I enjoy military sci-fi and first contact stories. This book combines the best of both.

Excellent Listen

I was hooked from the first chapter. The story is interesting and complex enough to be a great story. The performance was excellent. You could tell the difference between the players. Instead of paranormal activities, this story was a human response to a hostile presence. Players each had differences that stood out but I fit well into the story. I would recommend this listen to anyone that likes science fiction with a more human element. I really enjoyed listening to the one! Now going to the second book...

Saved itself at the end

I thought the general storyline was entertaining enough. The book started out so slow I almost packed it in a number of times. The narrator's inflection and mono tone reminded me of old cartoon character voices. It did get better as it went on or perhaps I made peace with the character voices. I think the overall experience would be better with a different narrator.
The captain and the rookie and or dysfunctional crew becoming war heroes were kind of cookie cutter from a lot of cowboy type space adventures war stories. All that said it did redeem itself in the last few chapters. Why did I keep reading it? The author came up with some interesting sub stories combined with some sit on the edge of ones chair moments and I was slowly pulled in and needed to know how things turned out.
Am I going to get the next book in the series yes.
