Publisher's Summary

This isn't a game. This is his new life.

Dave has been wandering through life for a long time. His day job bores him and he never seems to be able to meet his family's expectations. The only escape he's ever had is his love of MMORPGs.

But when he becomes the subject of a test without even knowing it, he's portaled into a game-world called Eloria with no way out. It's a frequent daydream of his, however, in none of those dreams did his wife and daughter ever accompany him.

Now, Dave must balance protecting his family with exploring his dream...oh, and trying to stay alive. Monstrous beasts roam Elaria, worst of all, an undead army led by the vile Death Knight.

He'll have to adapt fast and learn to cooperate if he hopes to make a new home for his family. And just maybe, along the way, he'll find out why they're living a life in exile.

Experience the epic first installment of a litRPG saga perfect for fans of C. M. Carney, Blaise Corvin, and Charles Dean.

Narrated by Peter Berkrot (Alpha World, Earth Force).

better than I expected.

I thought that this was going to be a lot more of a drag than it was. The family conflicts are brought up, and easily displayed in the first hour or so of the book. Past that, the story really picks up as the family have to deal with each other in a truely hostile enviroment. Characters don't continuously misunderstand basic mechanics of the RPG setting that they are placed in, and they do everything that they can in order to understand and adapt to their new circumstances.

The story follows a logical progression and characters don't suddenly become all powerful. instead, fear of death is the main thing holding back natives to the land they now inhabit.

All in all, this is top tier LitRPG and a more fresh take than the vast majority of Litrpg books that I have had the pleasure of reading. I would recommend this to any fan of the Genre.

Pretty good

Pretty good story. The multiple perspectives of the same fight and situations is either something you’ll really like or dislike. I personally think it’s neat at times if it’s driving an important point for story or building for that characters perspective. I think this book does it fairly well but might be tad overused. It’s certainly not my favourite book but it’s a cool take on the genre.

Too Many Points of View Changes.

Honestly this story suffers from a lot of the standard LitRPG problems but that isn't its biggest problem. To me the biggest problem with this story is the fact there are to many points of view and that it changes around to much. I understand having the point of views for nearly every character except for two,.but it's the frequency of the changes that take away from the story.

Really drawn out fights.

Still at the beginning of the book but having problems with the fighting. 1 min of fighting is about 20 minutes of listening. I don't need 3 or 4 perspectives on the same fight. Still the story is so far is engaging and it has potential. Will keep listening unless the stupidly slow fighting keeps on.
