Not the best
The story is pretty boring with mediocre characters. None of the magic of Giver of Stars which I loved.

Under developed characters
Such a disappointing listen from Jojo Moyes, who has been a favourite of mine for years…very unlikable and un-relatable characters (particularly the main character Celia) who are all apparently struggling with narcissistic tendencies. The Captain Kirk grandfather seemed crazily implausible as a character or any part of the storyline…and the “happy” ending also seemed forced, as we never really got to know her love interest as a character. I would not recommend this book

A great story!
There is always something happening, and despite the many characters, Moyes’ writing is so good, and she’s so aware of her readers that I didn’t lose track of who was who. The story threads were just long enough, and the characters were memorable for all their individual foibles. This is a top ten book for 2025 for sure!
