About this listen

When the rules turn deadly, winning is everything.

Only available from Audible, a gripping psychological thriller from the author of Silent Child, Saving April, and The Broken Ones. Perfect for fans of Gillian Flynn, Lisa Jewell and Paula Hawkins.

This gripping multi-voice audiobook features Billie Piper as Effie, Dan Stevens as Ben, Shane Zaza as David, and Avita Jay as Sophie, other roles are played by Felicity Duncan, David Holt and Sarah Whitehouse.

The perfect couple. The perfect marriage. The perfect game.

Effie and Ben May have everything. Success. Beauty. Glamour. But beneath the charming smiles and expensive clothes, a twisted game is in progress.

A game for which only they know the rules.

Leaving their fast-paced London life behind them, the Mays move to the exclusive gated community of Ivy Oaks. Here they can settle down and start a family in this quiet, safe little neighbourhood. At least, that’s what they tell their new neighbours.

But the truth has deadly consequences.

While Effie and Ben scheme and manipulate those around them, they fail to notice their carefully cultivated façade crumbling away. The perfect couple soon turn the game on each other, breaking all the rules. But when the stakes are life and death, losing isn’t an option.

As the final cards are dealt, who will play the winning hand and who will pay the ultimate price?

i got sone difficulty to understand the acting

it's maybe partly because english is my second language but It was hard to fallow if character talk to eachother or if it's memory the way it's narated. i wish Everyone Says their own line instead of the guy doing women voice sometime or reverse the women doing guys voice. to tell them appart they have to name who talking continiously. but the story was very interesting. It catch me very early.

Incredible Performance, Interesting Story.

The performance alone makes this worthwhile. Dan Stevens is incredible in everything.

The story was so intriguing in the first two acts but lost it for me towards the final act.

Just ok

Decent story but the attempt to tie it together at the end was ridiculous. Would have been better if the 'surprise' was woven through the book. glad it was free. would've been really disappointed if I'd used a credit.

Annoying music and sound effects

The music between some of the chapters is incredibly annoying and useless. None of the characters were especially endearing and the story back and forth format is not interesting.

Decent story with very good narrators. Not the best book out there, but good enough to keep my attention throughout.

Billie and Dan are excellent narrators. Had no expectations of this book but couldn’t stop listening once I started it. I really enjoyed it

WOW….WOW…WOW… Amazing

This was such a thrilling book. My Goodness I was entranced with this story and the suspense was ridiculously good.
This Author has always been one of my favourites and never disappoints. Great story telling that had me glued to my device for the entire 1 sit down read. It kept me up until the wee hours of the morning but I just had to finish it to see how it ended. Amazing.
The narration was so very wonderful. Drew you into the book that you could not put away. Absolutely brilliant.
Loved it and highly recommend it . It’s so worth a Credit and I would definitely do it all over again. Thank you Audibles for including in Audible Plus.
