As always, Flavia's view of the world around her. She is wise beyond her years. And I love the references to other literature and the fleeting bits of humour.

I don’t think I would enjoy the series as much as I do if I was reading it. Jayne Entwhistle is simply outstanding. She really brings the book to life. Undine is my new favourite. And again, I think it’s the narrator who makes her seem so much fun.

Oh dear. Flavia comes across many startling and life- insightful moments in this book - I believe Mr Bradley is laying down his pen. Sigh. No spoilers. I will say that the narrator does pitch Flavia’s voice to a smoother and less adolescent level, which greatly enhances the overall point. So sad when a great series ends. Thank you Mr Bradley.

We all imagine how a character’s voice will sound. I have read all of Alan Bradley’s books but never imagined Flavia would sound like an elderly lady.
