Publisher's Summary

In every life there is a turning point....

A moment so tremendous, so sharp and breathtaking, that one knows one's life will never be the same. For Michael Stirling, London's most infamous rake, that moment came the first time he laid eyes on Francesca Bridgerton.

After a lifetime of chasing women, of smiling slyly as they chased him, of allowing himself to be caught but never permitting his heart to become engaged, he took one look at Francesca Bridgerton and fell so fast and hard into love it was a wonder he managed to remain standing. Unfortunately for Michael, however, Francesca's surname was to remain Bridgerton for only a mere 36 hours longer - the occasion of their meeting was, lamentably, a supper celebrating her imminent wedding to his cousin.

But that was then.... Now Michael is the earl and Francesca is free, but still she thinks of him as nothing other than her dear friend and confidant. Michael dares not speak to her of his love...until one dangerous night, when she steps innocently into his arms and passion proves stronger than even the most wicked of secrets....

Featured Article: The Bridgertons Audiobooks in Chronological Order

In a fictional Regency-era London, the Bridgerton and the Featherington families depend on the marriages of their many children. Bridgertons has won over the hearts of millions, and Julia Quinn has likened the series to "a Cinderella story." Shonda Rhimes adapted the series of romance novels into the hugely popular Bridgerton Netflix series. Although a different character inspires each volume of the series, it’s best to enjoy the saga chronologically.

Love this book

This is one of my favourite books of the series. Francesca’s grief and new found love let alone the raunchier. The trope from friends to lover is nicely explored.

Fantastic

Francesca's life and love life is a roller coaster. Grief, Denial, Friendship, Hope and Love are only part of this amazing story!
I do miss the presents of Lady Whistledown.

Focus on Sexual Relations

The love story and hearing their inner thoughts is well done. If there was less focus on sex, it would have been better.

Love this series!

I love this series! The narration is spot on and the books are written so captivatingly. I love that we get to hear each siblings story, A through H! Can't wait for the next book!

Great Story

I didn’t read the overview but the beginning was rather startling.
And the thread of her always wanting a child kind of makes you feel for her in the end.
Though you are going to love the extras at the end. I truly had a laugh.

Francesca's story is much different.

I find Francesca's story far different from her sisters. most tragic for sure. I love that the author showed the married side of a woman in such a society during those times. Francesca's privacy speaks volumes; as a woman, a widow, lover and a mother. Michael on the other hand is a rare type of man, perhaps even in our current society; to endure an unrequited love for so long, even when they were already married.

Oh so hot and romantic

Mike and Fran ending together is perfect. I think it was meant to be, John was never meant to be forever

Eh…

This is my first time reading a Bridgerton book. I picked this one after hearing many people sing its praises. The story has plenty of heart, but the prose is clunky and leaden at times. Too much telling, not enough showing. I enjoyed the steamy bits with a sexually mature heroine, and the inclusion of a certain plot point was refreshing. Michael’s constant pining was a treat, though his mood swings were a bit much. Overall a bit mid, did enjoy but unlikely to reread or start other books in the series.
