Best book for 2024

I don’t want to give away anything about this book, however I want to make it clear that that this book is in my top 3 books ever and is for sure the best book for this year.
Is so beautiful written, the storytelling is flawless, this author not only knows how to build a world but knows how to make you feel that you want to be a part of that world. I found is pretty sad as a story but I also laugh and felt in love with the characters. Not to say probably I’ve just met the kindest character in history. Please consider reading/ listening to this book!

New and Exciting

This book was fantastic. It gives the genre something fresh and exciting to cling to. I am sadden to find out the next book will not be out until next year but I'll be trying to busy myself with other series while I wait.

Loved it, rich with detail and so original

I loved this book. I loved the rich detail of a completely original world and I loved sinking into it. I found the story so engaging. The narrators were great.

The problem is the narrator, not the story

The story is amazing, I bought a physical copy of it since I cannot get over how the narrator sounds like a robot. A graphic audio of this would be great. Honestly skip the audiobook (really robotic) and just read the book.

Confusing and boarded

Honestly, love the world building aspect of story. But I spend 35 chapters trying to piece who is who together. I know the next part is intentional the fmc being naive. ( she just want to live in her bubble and it madness for how long it take for that bubble to pop) . I feel this book is overrated

Oh, My Heart!

Such a fabulous book..I don't even know where to start. A little confusing at first will all of the characters and creatures but so eloquently written. The author clearly took the time to develop a plot that will tie well beyond this first book. As the reader, we have many questions answered, but many more treasures I I'm looking forward to having revealed in the following books.
I quite enjoyed the narrators. The female voice did a great job of narrating both male and female in her chapters, with a diverse vocal range and array of accents for multiple characters.
The only sort-of flaws from the narration I noticed was a volume difference from the male and female read narrations. I would turn up a few clicks for the male, then need to reduce it for the female. That didn't deter me from the book though, and I would still recommend it to others 😊

Not bad. I enjoyed it.

It was ok. I think I'll need to listen to the last few chapters again, because I got a bit lost with the characters at the end. "The Other" was probably my favourite character.

That was... long.

This book has been cropping up on all my book recommendations lists for quite some time now. I was hesitant to start such a lengthy book, knowing the next in the series hasn't released yet and I have a tendency toward impatience. I couldn't decide on my next read, and figured I'd give this a try. I am sort of glad I did. It didn't quite hit all the marks for me.

The narration was good, female and male. The fantasy world was fairly complex, and while I like that in a book, the delivery of all the details wasn't smooth. The reader had to painstakingly make sense of the magic system, politics, creatures, flora, fauna, currency, timekeeping/days/years and social norms by tying tiny pieces thrown throughout the book together like a puzzle. It was done with a somewhat abrupt, topic to topic shift, gradually, making the pace of the story too fast in brief moments and frustratingly slow at others.

I don't particularly feel drawn to the characters. While the overall story has some interesting unsolved mysteries, I don't feel any impulse or urgency to dive into book 2 when it's released.

fun fantasy story

this isn't my usual genre of reading but I was looking for something different. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the story.
I agree with other comments that said it was difficult to keep track of all the different characters especially since a few characters had multiple nicknames, and you went from present to past and back.
I found when I could listen to the book for 2 hour stretches instead of 20-minute snippets, it was much easier to follow.
I had no issues with the narration, but without giving any spoilers, I willl say that the next book in the series better come out pretty stinking soon because I have questions that need answers!

Amazing!

One of the best female narrators I’ve heard perform!! Highly recommend, great story, takes a little to get into because of the world building, but worth the patience.
