About this listen
I’m the Dixon who left.
Through the good, bad, and worst imaginable, I stayed gone.
When I return home after a decade, I’m not surprised by the cold reception from my family...or my brother’s best friend.
Emberly Olsen.
I spent my childhood tormenting her.
Now these days with her feel like the cruelest sort of unintended revenge.
We’ve changed.
She’s changed.
Pure confidence and sensuality, but her pouty lips and heavy-lidded eyes scream contempt. And word around town? She’s untouchable.
But after sharing a few drinks, her snide comments turn teasing.
Sneers become smiles.
Huffs change to laughs.
Laughs to moans, sweeter than any sound.
Years of animosity ignite into carnal need and passion.
We can blame it on the whiskey.
I have a feeling we’ll try.
But we aren’t that drunk.

Had me on my toes
Had me on my toes the whole book. Between crying, happy and all the emotions. It was a good book! Can’t wait for the next book.

Love this series.
While I would find some romantic stories repetitive. I love the character development and difficult relationships that are among the family. It keeps you engaged the whole way through

Amazing. So heart breaking
First I so want to slap Emberly Olsen.
Second I so want to slap the Dixon family.
Third I so want to hug Cason Dixon
Who says family will always be there for you.
Who says you can convince anyone to believe the truth if they don’t want to.
Who says you can always go home.
Plot amazing.
Narration amazing.
Molly McAdams amazing.

Extraordinary male narrator; story hit close to home
Jason Clarke is a phenomenal narrator! I was SO impressed by the soft tones and whispers when Cayson gets stuck in his own head or when he's speaking about something difficult. ... The inflections of the female narrator get a little annoying but it's fine overall. Lucky got me, it feels like there are more minutes to Cayson chapters than Emberly's.
And as for the story. ... *exhales slowly*
As someone with the same condition as Cayson, I really got stuck in my own head with scenarios (Rae would be proud) if I had experienced something like that or met someone who had gone through those situations. I'm glad for the healthier ending, but damn... the emotions.
Great read.
