Description
It’s the mid-to-late 1970s and radio is rapidly evolving from it’s early mass-entertainment monopoly, through its post TV transition as a music platform, and into an uncertain future. Fueled by the 1971 Federal Regulation requiring all new car radios to carry both the AM and FM bands, the radio business was once again in a state of change. It was the right time for the right people with the right stuff to catch lightning in a bottle - Paul & Kerby showed up with an abundance of the right stuff.
Wiggles, Winks & Wizards: Paul & Kerby’s Great Adventure details the second act of the story begun in Alias Emperor Rodgers (published 2018). In that first book, two high school teens get involved in local radio in small town Pennsylvania and make a handshake pledge to own a radio station together someday. From there, they build separate careers as prominent on-air radio personalities Paul “Rodgers” and Kerby “Scott.” The day comes when they reach a crossroad and are challenged to face that youthful pledge and make a choice...to either “fish or cut bait.” They choose to fish.
This book picks up the story as Paul Rothfuss and Kerby Confer leave the air to focus on the business of radio and learn the ropes. After an intense year of preparation they make a second handshake agreement, this time on an unwritten business partnership that makes that boyhood pledge a reality, and changes their lives.
