About this listen
Scholar and award-winning author Faith Fitzgerald has every reason to be happy: a wealthy, charming man who adores her and a family cheering her marriage prospects. But from the moment she meets Eric's sister, Sydney Van Allen, she knows her safe, predictable feelings for him are a shadow of what could be.
Openly lesbian and running for senator, Sydney can only succeed if she can live down her wild past. That means no liaisons, especially with the achingly alluring woman on her brother's arm who looks at her with confusion - and desire.

Beautiful heartfelt exciting story falling short midway
I was initially drawn and excited by a touching love story between two women. The heartfelt build-up was beautifully done, tugging at the heartstrings. However, as the narrative unfolded, it became clear that the plot lacked the necessary twists and turns to keep me engaged. It felt flat-lined and somewhat predictable, leaving me yearning for more depth and complexity. While the emotional connection was strong, the story could have benefited from injecting some unexpected surprises to elevate the overall experience.

Could be better
Though written years ago, the story still lacked plausibility on many fronts. Many characters were not fully developed, just skimmed over. The relationship between the characters was warped speed. Had the author fast forwarded months later and allowed a longer dating period, maybe I could have got there. Not to give anything away, seemed certain other character supporting stories came out of nowhere. Easy listen thanks to Abby Craden, but if it wasn’t for her I would have abandoned the book.
