Good start to a series but for one thing

I really enjoyed this first book and will definitely be buying the next one. However, I was a little disturbed that they just left a certain someone in the apartment without someone to care for them. It was a missing detail that bothered me through the last part of the book.

Really enjoyed this new to me author.

I was unfamiliar with Kai Butler's work but took a chance on this one because the blurb was interesting. Very happy I did.
The characters are engaging and interesting. The storyline was complicated but had me hooked from the very beginning. Plot, subplot were tight with good pacing.

Greg is one of my favorite narrators. Precise dialogue, good distinct voices and lots of emotion. Love his work.

Do I recommend this one? YES! But be warned. The series is addictive and you will end up getting the rest.

New Favorite story/series, new author to follow

For someone who likes the Dresden Files, this is a good book to try.

Okay, I am going to admit, doing a rating system sometimes is hard for me. But for this first book, I can give the story a full rating. Like in this case 5 out of 5 stars. My own personal rating 10 out of 10. Kai told a wonderful story that had comedy, mystery, action, romance. She gave us a likeable main character, And then she gave us a likeable secondary character in the form of a love interest. Which, sometimes it's hit or miss with the main character and the love interest. But Parker and Nick are fun characters and as soon as they were on the page together. That was it. I was like. I want to follow them, and I hope they're going to be happy. Add to that the colorful cast of characters that Kai peppers into the story, and you have a wonderful little world to escape into.

If you like urban fantasy, you will like this book. It actually showed me that sittings where magic isn't hidden can be even more entertaining! Kai has introduced me to a new subsection of my favorite genre. And I hope they see at least this one review of mine, so I can say, thank you, Kai, for a wonderful book, and broadening my horizons.
