About this listen

Once Upon A Time,

there was a wicked girl.

She lost everything that mattered,

causing darkness to unfurl.

Impulsive and intelligent,

she helped her family name grow strong.

But then one day a man without a heart came along.

An undercover agent, meant to spy and bring back tips.

Following down her hidden path of faded yellow bricks.

She hated him, he wanted her;

she was too good to be true.

But a woman can be great …

and terrible too.

Wretched is a dark, contemporary romance (not fantasy or a retelling) and the third complete standalone in The Never After Series: a collection of fractured fairy tales inspired by our favorite villains. It features mature themes and content that may not be suitable for all listeners. Listener discretion is advised.

IM OBSESSED!!!!

This book was immaculate. I didn’t think this series could get any better honestly. Wretched blew the roof off of this whole series.

This was probably everything I could ever want in a book. You get a bad ass female lead who makes her own drugs and carries around a gun. She’s just so sexy, smart and takes no shit from anyone. And then you get an undercover cop who’s trying to figure out who this supplier is. It’s just so amazing with the twists and secrets.

The whole story was so enticing. I think a main reason why I love this so much too, is because I went into a blind. I was just so surprised by everything that was happening and I literally ate this book up.

I cannot forget to mention the spice in this book there was dirty talking from both parties and it was hot as fuck. Emily McIntire really outdid herself with the spice in this one.

One of my favorites yet

Wretched is book 3 in the Never After series but is a complete standalone and has nothing to do with the previous 2 (no crossovers). It follows Nick, a federal agent, and Evie, who is part of the family he is going undercover to investigate.

I loved Nick and Evie so much. I also love that the heroine is the dark/evil one and the hero is the good guy in this one. As opposed to the first 2 books in the series. Evie is bada**

As I did with the first 2, I listened to the audiobook for this one and it’s by far my favorite of the 3 I have listened to so far. The narrators were perfect!!

I think this one is definitely up there in my favorites of this series, maybe second only to Scarred (book 2).

Excited to continue with this series and see where Emily takes me next, I just know it’ll always be good and a fun time.

Not bad, not great.

The narrators were fine. Nothing spectacular. The characters were bland and had no depth. The chemistry was meh. The spice was meh. Everything about this story was completely meh to me. I didn’t hate it, but nothing about it was memorable. Glad it was in the free catalogue!

so good!!

4.5 stars, full Review on my blog!

yes yes yes!!

This was actually SO GOOD. This is my favorite book in the series so far. It flowed pretty well, the story was intriguing and didn't put me to sleep like the first two.

Also, the writing was 1000 times better, and you could definitely tell this was edited unlike the first two.

Wretched is also a broken fairy tale where the main character is the villain and loosely takes references from the Wizard of Oz. Kudos to the author for making the dark-haired morally grey character a woman! I love it!

I loved the two main characters, Eveline is a badass. She is enchantingly imperfect and remarkably unpredictable, she embodies a captivating blend of flaws and volatility. Unapologetically wicked, I relished the experience of getting to know her complex psyche.
And Nick, witnessing his unwavering moral compass grapple with the magnetic pull of attraction to Evelina, all while navigating the delicate balance between his duty as a Federal Agent, to uphold the law and his burgeoning feelings, was truly captivating. The banter exchanged between these two characters was flawlessly executed, bringing about gleeful smiles as he skillfully irked her, managing to get under her skin and right into her face.

Their romance was almost perfect and the progression and pacing was amazing.

Overall, it was action-packed, the smut was so good. Although I feel like it needed a little more character development but with how short this was it wasn't terrible. I definitely recommend this one!

Pleasantly Surprised

Extremely loose retelling of The Wizard of Oz.
It was pretty good considering it is such a short story. It being short is the only negative I have, I wanted more.
Lots of descript smut, lots of murder, torture and general violence, captivating plot.
FMC is not the anti-hero, but a depraved, genius, sicko with an evil personal agenda but you love her anyways.
MMC is the corruptible anti-hero hero that you love to love.
Zero complaints.

Can’t give it quite 5 stars!

Enjoyed the story! I struggled with Vivian’s voice interpretation of the characters in this book. I think reading it would have been better! Vivian‘s voice did not work for me personally for this specific character. Her voice is too mature!!! She has a great voice just not the right pick for this character! Robert was great! I genuinely wish all male lines were read by male voice actor and all female lines by female voice actor! It would make the story so much more enjoyable!!!

Wretched

This book was very dark there are many triggers in this book or drug use and killings, but this story wasn’t all dark it was filled with a different kind of love one that couldn’t be right it was so wrong but it was so good. This book made me cry and be mad and the feels I had was crazy this book was good but darker then I have read before
