About this listen

DI Sally Parker has a serial killer on her patch. One thing that sets this killer apart from the others she's hunted before: his willingness to leave DNA at each of the crime scenes. It's up to Sally and her partner, DS Jack Blackman, to find out why before the body count rises to double figures.

While Sally is engrossed in the investigation, her ex-husband, Darryl, pays a surprise visit to her new home. His actions not only threaten Sally's newfound confidence, but they also force the DCI to give Sally an ultimatum concerning the case. Can Sally overcome all the obstacles fate has placed in her path and arrest the brazen killer?

The Over Enunciation

The story itself is good but the narrator over enunciates so much it’s difficult to listen to. I’m on chapter 14 and it’s the thing my brain keeps listening for instead of the story. Too bad.

"Pulpy" UK Procedural

Notably prolific Crime-Thriller/Romantic-Suspense author M.A. Comley introduces DI Sally Parker - an emotionally-complicated homicide investigator. Along with a relatable team of 'Norfolk Constabulary Police Force' colleagues (including super-paternal Detective Sergeant Jack Blackman), she hunts a suspiciously incautious Serial Killer committing rape-murders in her jurisdiction - brazenly leaving DNA in the bodies of his victims.
Comley is never going to win any writing awards - but the book isn't terrible, I guess - just pedestrian. I've read dozens of similarly undistinguished mystery-procedurals.

As to presentation: Reader Charlotte Anne Dore does, indeed, overenunciate (as other reviewers have complained).. but her narration overall is otherwise creditable, imo.
In toto, Tantor Audio Inc. offers a workable recording, but should have cast the project better.

Altogether, 'Wrong Place' merits 4.5 stars out of 10. It's a moderately amateurish (somewhat rushed/"cranked out") run-of-the-mill genre entry. The book is a serviceable 'Plus' selection (worth your time if you can get it for free). Should it leave the "included-with-your-subscription" menu, however, spend your Credit on something else.

[NOTE: In addition to some stereotypical "Men Are Pigs" messaging, the author's "horny slut" portrayal of barmaid victim after barmaid victim is strikingly misogynistic. Whoever you are as a reader, prepare to feel insulted]

Terrible

Terrible narration very painful. Couldn’t even make it to chapter 4. The story line is also very plain nothing engaging
