About this listen
One day, on a remote island, Katrina Bos found herself faced with having to literally eat eyeballs.... When she told her friends later about it, they asked her why she did it - why didn’t she just say “no”?
Well, because she had never considered that she could. She was a long-time people-pleaser who almost never considered her own desires, preferences, or comfort if it meant possibly disappointing someone else.
She had been metaphorically “eating the eyeballs” for her whole life.
Does this sound like you? Are you the kind of person who tends to sacrifice your own happiness for the sake of others? Are you too polite? Is it hard to be honest if it means disappointing someone?
In You Don’t Have to Eat the Eyeballs, Katrina Bos shares her journey from eternal people-pleaser to finding true self-love and connection, leaving her days of eating eyeballs (real and in everyday life) behind her.

That’s what honouring your soul feels like
If you have been on a spiritual journey as long as I have, you have probably read it all. From James Redfield to Abraham Hicks, Eckhart Tolle, Adjashanti and dozens of others. You may have adopted some tricks, practices or 5- or 7- or 25- step processes; you may have preached them to other seekers and followed them diligently for a while only to find that although all of them worked to some degree but none of them ultimately took you where you wanted to be: the person who can wake up, look in the mirror and say - without any resistance, without any doubt - I truly love who I am and I am truly and genuinely happy. Then, if you are like me, you may have become very selective about what you read; you no longer fall for catchy titles; you have probably returned a few audio books because after a few minutes of listening something about it just didn’t feel right. Yet your soul was still yearning for something authentic, something free of pretence, any trace of guru-ish know-it-all vibe, free of overinflated ego. Something that resonated with you on a level way deeper than your anxious mind.
And that’s what I found in this book. It resonated with me so much that I bought two extra copies as gifts for my daughter and one of my friends. It wasn’t even about what the author was saying, it was about how she was saying it. I have never considered myself much of a people pleaser but after listening to Katrina’s honest personal stories I found myself relating to them on a personal and spiritual level. I, too, ate a number of eyeballs in my life and every single one of them made me sacrifice a part of my soul that I wish I hadn’t. But in the end, that’s what makes us who we are.
Bottom line, this was one of the most genuine and soulful books I have ever come across. It’s filled with love, compassion and kindness of the highest quality. You can hear it in Katrina’s voice. When I finished the book, I caught myself thinking: that’s the kind of person I want to be friends with!
