Ruh roh RAGGY!
The story/plot was pretty generic. No offense to the narrator, but the voice work sounded a lot like a Scooby Doo Mystery cartoon. I half expected the antagonists to say, "And I'd have gotten away with it, too, if it weren't for those meddling kids!", right before they bought it.

Great story but….
The story was good. It had quite a variety of happenings and has the potential for entertaining. The narrator was hard to listen to. I didn’t finish the series because i kept stopping it due to it sounding like a cheap instructional narration. Give it a sample and if you can tolerate the narrator then you should be fine.

Well rounded story, but too many bad guys.
As I said in the title a well rounded story, characters were likeable. My only criticism is that there were too many antagonists, Scarface could have been eliminated from the story. Didn't feel he added anything when there were already other foreign enemies. would like a Texas follow up series.

Not really recommended
With well over 200 books from audible I figured the reviews are not meant for everybody depending on your likes and dislikes .I thought I would give this one a try and let the theater of the mind take over from the narrator. The story isn't so bad in places but at other times you get lost with whose talking and where they are. Parts came up where where nations were involved and triggering a ballistic shootout with the Chinese. Then it was gone and back to the original story and never mentioned again. Maybe I was half asleep and didn't get it right but I kept waiting for a global conflict. The whole book was like this and I really couldn't recommend it even on a dare. If you listen at bedtime and want to fall asleep this will certainly help. The narration was truly bad and almost laughable at times.

The story is very poor. The narration is terrible.
Not worth anyone's time and money. I'm sorry for the author's ego but...
The style is also quite poor.
Once you've noticed the 2 adjectives before a noun, it becomes very annoying. Especially when the narrator systematically marks a pause after the first adjective.
I was happy for once to find a book in the post apocalyptic genre that wasn't read by Kevin Pierce, but at least, he knows how to narrate!
I'm sure it's not easy to read books out loud, but when it's your trade, you should be able to give the text and characters more life, no matter how many dead bodies you encounter.
Men voices are somewhat ok, which is great because there's barely any female characters in that lame story.
Now if you like military style action (i.e. ambush+gunfight, rince repeat) and the detailed catalogue of every weapon in the world, you're gonna love the series. I wish it were more about survival than the nice people against the nasty people. Also seriously... Why don't they use one of the thousands of available cars in the street instead of walking for miles?
And that ridiculous monster... come on!
I had to stop listening after 1.5 books as I kept skipping further to see if anything was getting interesting. Maybe at some point it will, I'll never know.
I just regret that I won't know what the hell started the catastrophe, although i don't really care much at this point. Can't wait to start listening to something else.
