About this listen

The year is 2011, and what starts as a pervasive and inexplicable illness ends up as a zombie infestation that devastates the world's population. Taking the form of a biologist's journal found in the aftermath of the attack, this pulse-pounding, suspenseful tale of zombie apocalypse follows the narrator as he flees from city to countryside and heads north to Canada, where he hopes the undead will be slowed by the colder climate. Encountering scattered humans and scores of the infected along the way, he fills his notebook with descriptions and careful observations of zombie behavior, along with terrifying tales of survival.

This frightening contribution to the massively popular zombie resurgence will keep fans on the edge of their seats right up to the very end.

Short and Sweet

Fun little listen.
Short chapters and well narrated.
Also seems to follow a more.. "believable" zombie explanation. How the dead would decay, etc.

Food is the cause

Enjoyed the different view on the zombie apocalypse, food as the issue as opposed to a viral outbreak.

Well written and nice ambience

Was an excellently written novella that managed to creep me out without really doing anything creepy. Managed to capture the feeling a recorded journal's perfectly.

Great short zombie novel - too much mouth noises

Not a bad book to listen to in an afternoon. I really liked the character voice depiction. It seemed very honest and believable. Main character is simple but relatable. One thing I disliked was the main character is constantly gulping and swallowing… sounds like he needs to drink something 90% of the time. it was annoying. Once you get over the mouth noises it’s worth a listen.

Bite-sized story ideal for commuting

If you haven't got time to invest in deep character development and back story, but still crave a clever and entertaining spin on the zombie apocalypse, then this short story is for you.

It has bite.

Short but solid survivor account. Nice to see a Canadian setting used. Good performances and descriptions.

Perfect for a Roadtrip

Good performances, nice short audio book beat consumed in a single car ride. Try it!

Smartly done!

While this adds very little “new” to the zombie genre, it is a fast-paced and well-put together “audio journal” of one scientist’s three-month trek north in an effort to avoid the zombie outbreak. It’s a quick listen and well done; Stephen R. Thorne is the primary voice actor and he does a masterful job emphasizing our narrator’s steady decent into depression and fear.
