1001 interviews author and veteran Mark Hager regarding his new book 'The Last of the 357th Infantry Harold Frank's WWII Story of Faith & Courage- which is an incredible story of a WWII veteran who participated in the Normandy invasion as a BAR man, was wounded after 30 days on non-stop fighting during which most of his division was killed or wounded, and survived a German prison camp.. His survival is credited to the lessons he learned during the depression in North Carolina and his faith in God and family.

In 1898, a young attorney in Italy who was also an amateur photographer was given permission to be the first person allowed to photograph the burial cloth that was said to be the one that covered Jesus's body when Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus prepared him for burial. It had been in possession of that church in Turin Italy for hundreds of years and was considered sacred. The photographer, Pia Secondo,and two men of the church were busy developing the pictures of the shroud, which was 14 feet long, and carried the very faint image of a man lying on his back.that was said to have been Jesus. Pia was holding the negative plate in his hand, and as he looked at it he drew back in shock, almost dropping it. The face and body of the man in the negative were now visible in stunning detail . Pia Secondo was looking at what he believed to be the face of his lord and savior, Jesus Christ.

The Battle of Guadalcanal-an air, land, and sea battle fought in the Pacific between August 7th and February 9th of 1942, was the first major offensive of WWII that tested American land forces vs. the Japanaese Imperial Army. When Berlin fell in April-May of 1945 under the Russian onslaught, Adolph Hitler and his new bride Eva Braun, as the story went for years, committed double suicide- he by a gunshot to his head, and she by cyanide. In 1945 the Chicago Cubs baseball team was trying to end a many years long losing streak and it was game 4 of the playoffs taking place right there in Chicago. Just before that game, which would have clinched it for them, a local bar owner bought a ticket for himself and his pet goat only to discover that the goat, which he had brought for good luck, wasn't allowed. He demanded to talk to the owner, PJ Wrigley, who told him he could come in but the goat could not. Why, asked the owner. because your goat stinks! was the answer. According to legend, the bar owner put a curse on the team , saying they would never win another series as long as he lived. And the curse lasted until 2016, despite all kinds of efforts to break it.
