Season One has been a blast. Thanks for tuning in.
Big changes coming. Rose is super busy with Senior Year stuff- teaching in Billings at 7:45am sometimes.
At MontAsia, we have the lowest staffing levels ever, and we're expecting the biggest numbers ever, so Chef is strapped. He's often doing dishes until 3am.
We simply can't record and edit two hour eps anymore.
We'll do a one more big Season One Finale, and then Season Two will have new format. Stay tuned. We're really excited.

    1:30
    Oui Oui
After the shortest intro ever, bam: The Tik Tok ban. Chef and Rose bring different takes to the ban that would never be, until it was, and then immediately wasn't (?????).

We circle back to the diversity of South Korea. We're both surprised, and we both have to go.

    29:17
    ReviewEd
We finish up our Holiday Binge Reviews with quite the selection. Climax fucked us both up. What a movie. There were some hits and misses after that. More feces than either of us expected.

    NowGeo / SOS
Chef corrects the record on the French always losing, and points out that they amassed a bigger empire than the US ever did. Cue the tweets.

We've been getting requests for serious Homeschool info from parents' perspective. Chef breaks down some of the daunting barriers to homeschool.

Getting Rose psyched for her trip to France this year Chef talks about French geography, and highlights some of the different regions of France worth a visit.

    SchedulEd
Rose walks us through the last semester of her senior year, which his head-spinningly busy.
Remember y'all, the Senior Year above all other years is the example of the progressive homeschool ideology that most of the best lessons take place outside of the home, out in the field or volunteering etc. And like Chef has been saying for years, Rose is certainly out there.

    1:27.26
    TipOut
After a brief detour into the world of professional Rock Paper Scissors, because Chef in a divergent maniac, we're back on track; Rose would have us read, and Chef would concur with a specific Carl Hiassen ammendment.

Much Love y'all. Season one has been a blast. See you for the finale!

  • Out of The Loop, In on The Arts
    Jan 19 2025

We start with one of our biggest intros ever, but we cover a lot, from the Vegas and CA vacays, to Home Schooling, plus a mini ScratchEd segment talks about how all the cancer days have been slowing down our schedule, but it has been a happy break with really special family time.

    17:39
    SOS
In an AfterschoolEd first: a breaking news segment!!!
During our post intro recording break, DUO called Chef only to hang up on him. What did Chef say to piss of that owl so much she had to hang up? Tune in to find out.

    20:48
    ReviewEd
Back to normal programming: a ReviewEd buffet. It's been an origami and binging holiday, and we watched a lot. From White Lotus to Black Dove, 3:10 to Yuma to Bonesaw, Lucky Logan to Queenpins, we have notes. It's a quick mini review of each one.

    51:02

Rose gave Chef a tip so good, he has to pass it on. Learn y'all, learn.

    ReviewEd Rose Special Edition
In a segment so good, we have to make it a tradition, Rose does her 10 Ins & 10 Outs for 2025. She's got some bangers. Chef agrees, then gets jealous and does his own on the fly.

    1:15.47
    Koan Koan Git
In an awesome Education Moment, Chef starts a Koan only for Rose to recognize it less than one line in. Not only does she know it, she just told it the other day to a friend. Rose takes over the tale, nails it, and we talk about what turns out to be a mutual favorite Koan. Cross the River with us. We promise to set you down.

    1:20.23
    CancelEd
We bring back an AfterschoolEd fan favorite and check in one a couple big '24 "Cancellations".
Trump, Rowling, Roiland, and more, we talk about what they did, and if they were cancelled- surprising year, surprising results.

    Tip Out
Chef has a lazy, bucolic, beautiful tip for the peak of SADS and cold season: a great way to relax in the Reels or YouTube rabbitholes.
Rose came in fiery for her best Tip Out yet. She's getting ready for a year of huge travels so the travel vids and travel crew she found are perfect.

Stay out of the Loop in 2025! Go float canals, or play a huge game of Tag with your friends. We love you! Approaching 1k downloads!!!!! Thanks to South Asia- the region downloadind them most of this content. We love you guys too.

    Last '24 Episode!!! We survived.

    1:32
    ScratchEd
In an AfterschoolEd first, Chef flies solo for a (mercifully) brief segment: a cancer and scheduling update. Don't worry, it's not bad, and it's over quick. He's. . . he's not a good solo voice. He needs help. Lots of help.

    4:16
    ReviewED
Been a lot of family couch time between cancer and vacay, so we've been binging, and we're testing out AfterschoolEd's new rating system with a rapidfire ReviewEd session: from the X Triology to Starsky & Hutch, from Person of Interest to Smile 2, we saw a lot recently and we have notes.

    17:55
    TinklEd
In a mini Oui Oui we talk about the fallout from Barry's breakup with Sabrina. Chef knows more than you'd have thought. The internet also still needs to chill.

    31:17
    Oui Oui
In the main Oui Oui, Chef learns why Gen Alpha is looking forward to knee surgery.

    40:53
    Koan Koan
We dive right into what is very much not surprisingly one of Chef's favority Koans. It involves very sharp knives, sudden and unwarranted violence, and outright misanthropy. Of course he loves it.

    44:55
    BackGroundEd
Christmas is maybe the #1 time of the year for background shows and movies to stream while your insane Uncle raves about 5G causing frogs to be gay. In honor of Huannakah, we each name our Eight Flicks of the Season: the best content for holiday streaming with the friends and fam.

    1:01.28
    Oui Oui
Chef takes over the Oui Oui stream, and we get soaked in Proud Boy cereal milk.

    1:12.52
    SOS
We dip our toe back into Who Cooked the Last Supper with a quick history lesson of a Queen who's been whitewashed and genderwashed from history. A true Queen. A Leader on par with Alexander and a Queen who quite literally bested Cyrus: Thosyris.

    1:21.30
    Tip Out
Chef gets spooky with a crazy wild Tip Out, and Rose goes traditional with a Johnson family tradition that should be way way more widespread in the States.

Thanks for all the listens. 14 countries have tuned in. A few new reviews. Lots of good feedback. Thanks for joining us for the ride. Happy New Year!

  • AdventSchoolEd First Day
    Dec 7 2024

On the first day of Christmas AfterschoolEd gave to me: A banger episode to enjoy!
    Our first Christmas episode.

    2:00 SchedulEd

We start super helpful this ep: homeschool tips and shoutouts right away. In the Senior year, make sure y'all are doing senior pics, announcements, etc.

    15:50 Eff Marry Kill

We had a lot of fun doing this segue recently, so we're bringing it back. The three Chris's (Pine, Hemworth, Pratt) pretty much wreck Chef.

    25:27 ReviewEd

Since it has become one of our most popular segments, we take the time to establish a formal list of criteria.
We test out our newfound scale on a couple recent watches: Extraction II and A Quiet Place II.

    31:52 YellowstonEd

Another update on the Fenn Treasure hunt. Spoiler alert: it begins again!

35:37 ReviewEd: Music of the Year Edition

In the first of the 2024 Year in Review segments, we review a few of the most popular albums of the year.

1.14:50 True or False, Black Friday Edition

Chef struggles to answer pretty basic questions about Black Fridayl.
    No surprise there.

    1.20:20 Mewing and JawMaxxing

So, Chef found about that Mewing is named after someone- the dude who "invented" it, and three days later he stopped laughing and we recorded some of his most recordable thoughts.

    1.45:50 Tip Out

Chef has a Christmas movie that you can't say you've lived until you've watched it.
Rose counters with a very resonable NYT Games suggestion. Chef's already hooked.

  • The Fab Five: The First Five Parter
    Nov 27 2024

We fell into the dark there like Gandalf and the Balrog after the election. Sorry.
Much like Gandalf, we're coming out swinging and better than ever. This is AfterschoolEd's first ever five parter, and the first ep ever with times noted in the description! It may not be Rogan signing with Spotify, but it's at least the second or third most important moment in Podcast History. We're humbled to be a part of it.

    Oui Oui 1:16
    Nara and Lucky Smith
Chef Learns about Nara and Lucky, and, much like ep 1's Skibbity vid- it's a real eye opener for him. They have three children and their names are. . . . . they're not traditional. Chef might have a Lucky crush.

    YellowstonEd 14:00
    The Fenn Treasure Update
Back in the homeschool days of yore, we went deep on looking for the Forrest Fenn Treasure (that chest of treasure hidden by the Santa Fe dude in the Rocky MT West). We had a solid theory about where it was probably located. Our theory involved a few specific locations to the East of YNP in Wyoming. Update? It's been found. Where? Let's just say Chef and Rose might be geniuses.

    YellowstonEd 19:47
The 5 Stages of Grief as Two Blue Peeps in a Bright Red Maga County
We recorded this episode 13 days after the election. It took a few weeks extra- a brutal few weeks. Both Chef and Rose went dark for a bit there. We're back.
What are the 5 Stages of Grief? We talk about our trip through those stages in the past few weeks. And we talk about what went wrong.

    TinklEd 33:33
    The 4B Movement
Chef knew Rose would still be fiesty after the election debrief, so he came in prepped with a history of the 4B movement as a means to resisting Patriarchy Gone Wild. We talk history, deets, spread, pushback, and rebuttal to pushback in a way only Chef could: with a skiing analogy.

    86Ed 39:45
Application Tips, Tip Slips, Tip Pools
Can modern youth write their names, phone numbers, and email addresses by hand?
What should you write on restaurant tip slips?
Should you have restaurants split checks, ever?
    NO. NOTHING. NEVER.
    We explain.

    Eff Marry Kill 53:05
    Food Trios
We start with Poke, Sushi, and Sashimi, and we decide which one we'd (ahem), which one we'd marry, and which one we'd kill.
It's a banger segment, and we'll do it again for sure.

    ReviewEd 1:03.00
    Rando Cycles
Pop culture goes in cycles, like so much of history. We review one of the worst trends that come back every now and then: the Random!!!! sense of humor cycle. Buckle up. Chef has notes.

    Koan Koan Git 1:09.35
    The Biggest Questions in Life
Sometimes in kitchens it's all jokes and nonsense. Slow season though, shit gets real, and the other day we talked about the biggest three questions of modern life. Something to ponder.

    ReviewEd 1:20.30
    Zero Prep Sequel Check In
We used to watch movies on repeat when Rose was a kid. Does she remember? Madagascar 2 and Hangover 2 get check ins.

    Tip Out 1:27.35
Get Your Shit Together and Future Earth
To get over the election, Chef is banging out some fiery tunes. Rose is looking for good news.

  • Spookisode IV
    Nov 5 2024

On maybe the spookiest day ever: a cold, gray, harsh, bitter election day, under constant fire of the biting Beartooth Front wind, we hunker down and publish the last of our spookisodes.
We had so much fun, we snuck in one more, recorded on Halloween Eve, released on Election Day: the scariest of all episodes.

We start with an SOS where Rose teaches us the origins of Halloween. It's cool. You into mumsing or guising?

Rose takes on a new segue, named Rose Way for now, and dives into hot takes on the halloween costumes of the year.

A GhostEd sement takes a few unexpected turns, becoming one of the craziest trips down memory lane. Chef walks us through his encounters with ghosts (he's way way more into them than you would have thought), right up to his epic battle with the ghost of his father in law. Chef's. . . . well, chef's nuts, frankly.

A WHM Trailer Game inspired Name It has Rose guessing famous halloween movies based on trivia deets. It's a hit, and we'll have to do more.

We maybe stretched to call it a GhostEd, as our second GhostEd segment is really a double header of classic true crime stories. We learn Rose is way, way into true crime. It's a couple crazy stories.

We finish our last Spookisode of '24 with a Halloween ReviewEd. We talk more costumes, we talk candy, and we rank where Halloween falls on our personal holiday lists.

Last Spookisode Tip Out is a classic window into Rose and Chef: shopping and mapping and doing it in style.

Stay safe in the coming days y'all. Fans of the show know we're rooting for a Harris win with the frosting on the cake being a Tester win too. We'll see. Fingers crossed. Much love either way. Feeling terrified but optimistic about the former, and sad and worried about the latter.

  • Spookisode III Dare to Listen
    Oct 30 2024

Our 13th Episode is also the 3rd Spookisode, and it's downright haunting. Children, the elderly, those prone to fainting, the light hearted, ninnywaggles, and those prone to gasping should probably not attempt to listen.

We ease in, with a Social Studies showing off a homeschool leadership achievement. It's another sneakily helpful homeschool segment.

Then we start to get spooky: a Would You Rather that straight up freaks Chef out.

Now we get downright scary: we try to scare Rose straight with the straight dope on DRUGS. We start with all the legal or readily available ones.

For an SOS segue, we learn why Friday the 13th is a thing in our popular culture. It's a cool story, with a spooky vibe just right for the season.

A micro 86ed has Chef trending and he won't shut up about it.
    Luckily his jokes are OK.

We finish our harrowing DarED episode with the harder drugs. Chef has an astonishignly frank discussion about mushrooms in particular.

Seasonal tip outs round out a crazy ride. We're. . . . we're the ones who do this and we're still not sure what the hell we're doing. It's fun though.

  • Spookisode II Smashing Pumpkin Spice
    Oct 23 2024

The Second Ever Spookisode starts with a NYC update. Chef almost had a panic attack in Brooklyn, so that's legit scary.

We finish our GhostEd sandwiches from Spookisode I last week, when Chef intro'd Yuba and Rose intro'd Dyatlov. We flip flop and Chef starts with his theory of Dyatlov. Despite the fact that last week he couldn't even pronounce it and kept shouting something about "the women", his take is surprisingly reasoned and well-informed. It's. . . . . it's almost scary.

Quick segue has Rose largely smashing her way through the 90's, and we have to agree.

Last of the sammies as Rose debuts her research and theories on the Yuba Five. She's got some good points. Chef brought evidence too. No effing around. Johnson & Johnson maybe solve the case. Boom.

In a TinklEd Rose switches gears at the last moment and baits Chef into wildly inappropriate jokes.

In another shocking development, we have another seriously helpful ep here with a great homeschool update. We've been dancing around this for a bit, and we're finally debuting our third and maybe most important homeschool themed segment: SchedulEd.
SchedulEd deals with the logistics, the everyday deets that make managing a homeschool from both a teacher and a student perspective so intimidating. We break it down into digestible segments dealing with things like test prep and, of course, scheduling priorities.
In our first SchedulEd, we talk about Senior Photos. We also have a pre-event check in for Rose, who is going to a huge dance event as a student and a choreographer.

For a segue, Chef and Chat GPT team up and uncover another Bermuda Triangle style spooky zone. Its sounds deranged. Might actually be onto something, which is also scary.

As a Chef and a foodie, we're stoked fall is here & talking fall foods and trends in ReviewEd.

In a perfect Generational take on entertainment, Chef's tip out is a TV show, and Rose's tip out is a YouTube show.

See you one more time this October for Spookisode III.
