I was surprised when Nintendo announced that Super Mario RPG was getting a remake. I thought because of licensing, it would be lost to the annals of time as one of those weird 90s collaborations, a bit like the Sony Nintendo, that happened but would never happen again.

Therefore, I was very excited to play Super Mario RPG remake and after playing it, I think it is one of my favourite games on the Nintendo Switch.

With a name like Caravan SandWitch, I had a lot of questions about what this game was. The caravan seemed clear because there is a van very clearly shown in the game’s key art but a SandWitch? Eh? Turns out the game has nothing to do with the delicious lunch time food you might have thought, but instead is a game about exploration and loss and as we will see in this week’s episode of the Beat Your Backlog podcast.
