  • Chapter 9: “Dopesick” what they got right and why you should be watching pt 2
    Apr 4 2022

Warning ⚠️ : This episode does talk about addiction and drug use.

In part 2 of Chapter 9: Dopesick, I will be going over Episode 4 which is entitled “Pseudo-Addiction”. I felt that this episode needed to have its own podcast because it really gets into the heart of how greedy Big Pharma can be and how detrimental it is to those who get addicted.

We follow along with the emerging court case which is based in criminal rebranding. We also see the addiction progression of Betsy and Dr Finnix. We see the Sacklers find David Haddix who has them use the term Pseudo-Addiction to bypass the thought that their drug is getting people addicted and is causing a spike in crime, while making them more money with a spike in sales. We will also learn what the term dopesick actually means!

  • Chapter 9: “Dopesick” What they got right and why you should be watching pt1
    Mar 14 2022

Warning ⚠️ this episode does mention drug use and overdose discretion is advised.

In this three part chapter I will be giving a synopsis on Hulu’s “Dopesick”. I will be discussing what they got right in regards to their telling of the case against Perdue Pharma and the Sackler family. I will also talk about what they got right in terms of the opioid crisis in this country.

In part 1 I will be going over the first three episodes and introducing some of the characters and the beginning of the case against the Sacklers. We are also introduced to the drug Oxy and given the line the pharmesutical reps are told to give Dr’s, that less than 1% will become addicted. We also begin to see the toll it takes on the people who were prescribed and how it in a short time brought the rise of overdose, crime typically associated with street drugs, and child abandonment.

Stay tuned for the next two parts where I will go over episodes 4-8.

    Mar 4 2022

Warning ⚠️ this episode does mention rape, abortion, and suicide if these are triggers for you please pass on this episode. National Suicide Hotline is 1-800-273-8255 and the trans Suicide Prevention Hotline is (877) 565-8860.

In this episode I will be giving my opinion and some facts about the bills that have tragically been passed in Texas and in Florida. In Texas the governor’s office passed a bill that would hold investigations on families of transgender children who either have started or have thought about taking hormones or hormone blockers in preparation for gender re assignment surgery and how the governor believes it is child abuse. This is a disgusting abuse of mixing church and state and is very detrimental to those children and their families.

In Florida the “Don’t Say Gay” bill was passed meaning schools cannot speak on or teach about sexual orientation or gender. This bill also horribly allows teachers to OUT kids to their parents, which is a horrible detriment to that child’s well being.

To all the families and all the children out there going through this know that I stand with you. Allies need to step up and support these kids and their families. And to the parents of these kids that are open , supportive, and loving THANK YOU! You are a shining example of what it means to be a great parent. To those whose parents don’t support you, know this I do, and so do many other Allie’s. You are amazing the way you are and you are worthy to love, be loved, and live your life in your own way!

In this episode I also talk about the importance of pronouns. It is so important to be respectful of a persons pronouns whether it is they/them, she/her, he/him or even she/they or he/they.

To all my transgender and non-binary friends and colleagues, I see you, I love and respect you, and I will do everything I can to be a good ally to you!
