  • Chi-Town Weekly #220: Recaps And Reactions
    Feb 11 2025
What can the Bears take away from the dismantling old Defensive Coordinator Vic Fangio gave the Chiefs? Are the Bears honestly close? And after the NBA trade deadline last week, the Bulls are no closer to declaring a lane than they were back in October. What is AKME thinking? But at least baseball is right around the corner as Cubs pitchers and catchers reported to Arizona Sunday.

  • Chi-Town Weekly #219 Farewell Zach Lavine
    Feb 4 2025
The Bulls traded Zach Lavine on Sunday night. It only took about two years to pull off, but AKME finally got the job done, involving Zach in a 3-team deal that gets him reunited with DeMar DeRozen. The move netted the Bulls several role players and control of their own first round pick for the next several drafts. With the NBA Trade Deadline approaching this Thursday, will this be the only move? It can't be, can it?
Ben Johnson has been very busy building his coaching staff, adding former Chiefs and Commanders offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy to the list on Sunday as the Running Backs coach and adding Dan Roushar as the offensive line coach. And with the news that Mylees Garret wants ouf of Cleveland, should the Bears pursue the 29-year old edge rusher?
It was a big week for Angel Reese and the Sky last week. The Sky welcomed back PG Courtney Vandersloot for the upcoming season, announced that they will be playing the Brazilian Nation Team in a preseason game down on the campus of LSU and Angel made history with an ejection in an Unrivaled League game.

  • Chi-Town Weekly #218 It's All Coming Together
    Jan 28 2025
Ben Johnson was impressive last week when introduced a the Bears head coach. That might be the best press conference by a Bears coach in the last 20 years. Helps that it was right after he was hired. How much does that actually mean in the long run? We're also starting to see his staff come together. Some great names and some "well, OK" names on there. The Cubs also held true to their word last weekend that they weren't done adding by trading for closer Ryan Pressly from the Houston Astros. The White Sox held their fan convention, getting ready to kick off what will be a year-long celebration of the 2005 World Series Championship. The Blackhawks got in on the trade action too, but not in a good way, sending away Taylor Hall and being a piggy bank for the Carolina Hurricanes in their Miko Ranntanen ultra-deal, all to get one measly 3rd round pick back. Finally, we bid a fond farewell to a great D3 basketball tournament.

  • Chi-Town Weekly #217 Ben Johnson Come On Down!!!
    Jan 21 2025
The Bears did it! They went and got THE BEST candidate to be their next head coach, Ben Johnson! Everybody in the organization deserves kudos for the move - Ryan Poles, Kevin Warren, yes, even George McCaskey. And the rumored staff members that may be coming with give some clarity on what the Bears offseason plans might look like. Job well done!
The Cubs held their fan convention over the weekend, welcoming Sammy Sosa back to the fold after more than 20 years away. A homecoming well deserved. And then Ricketts had to go and open his mouth.
Finally, DePaul won a Big East game for the first time in 2 years! It really looks like Coach Holtmann has this program headed in the right direction!

  • Chi-Town Weekly #216 Hurry Up and Wait
    Jan 14 2025
The Bears head coaching search has expanded to 20 different parties, each with their own varying degree of interest. Is that too many names? Can the brass at Hallas Hall really be expected to keep track of each of them? And should there be concern now that Mike Vrabel has signed with the New England Patriots? On the playing field, there are a bunch of players coming out of contract with the Bears. Who should be priorities, who should be offered deals, and who should be left to test the waters? Finally, the Cubs missed out on Japanese pitching senstion Roki Sasaki. What next?
