  • Summary

  • Christmas is the world's biggest festival, yet we barely understand how we got here. Somewhere between Jesus, Dickens and Coke, Christmas became the beloved chaotic present-fest that it currently is. If it's a turkey, we should really stop stuffing it. So let's unwrap it instead....

Join journalist Grace Dent, comedian Paul Kerensa and a house-full of special guests for a festive, fun and fact-filled sleigh-ride through the history of our Christmas traditions.

Please note: Father Christmas would like you to know that this series might not be suitable for children.

A must for the holidays!

This podcast was packed with fun and interesting bits of information and the hosts, Grace and Paul, pulled it off with the right amount of humour and seriousness. I've been listening to it over my morning coffee and it has really started my day off right! My husband managed to catch some of it one morning and he was having a good chuckle which is a sight since he is not a morning person. I'm planning on listening to it again starting tomorrow morning and sharing it with my daughter over coffee. Well done!

I listen to this yearly!

This pod has a great combination of history and humour. I first listened to it 2 years ago and have mad it an annual listen throughout December. Paul Kerensa also has a wonderful book available on Audible called 'Hark! The Biography of Christmas'. Think of this podcast as a tasting menu for the book. I listen to both 'Hark' and the podcast yearly.
