  • Summary

  • Almost thirty years has passed and from beginning to the present, the Lord has never left us. We have seen Him at work in every aspect of this congregation. His powerful hand carried us through the toughest times of our existence. We especially praise Him for providing us with devoted pastoral leaders: Rev. Dr. Landrum Shields, founding pastor, Rev. Terrence Harper, Sr., and our current pastor, Rev. Dr. Wallace O. McLaughlin. Under their leadership, Covenant Community Church has offered its membership and the community “endurance, encouragement and hope” in such a warm and loving place.

  • Hebrews Sermon Series: Part V – “The Only Way to Live”
    Jan 10 2025

    Scripture Text: Hebrews 10:38; 11:1-2, 12:1-2 (NKJV)

In today’s message Pastor Wallace concludes his Hebrews Sermon Series -Part V, on “The Only Way to Live.” Hebrews 11 is set up by Hebrews 10:38 which says, “Now the just shall live by faith.” Habakkuk lived in a day of violence, degradation, apostasy and danger. God told Habakkuk his responsibility was to live in an uncertain age by faith. Accordingly, we do not live by explanation, but by faith. This is the only way to live, and this message is timely as we are facing dark days of uncertainty and anxiety. Faith is the answer to every problem we have. Pastor Wallace outlines for us the following to help access our faith: 1) the description f a life of faith, 2) the dynamics of a life of faith, and 3) the destination of the life of faith. In summary, in the race of life, the goal is to find, follow and finish the will of God. You and I should be motivated to live the life of faith by the saints around us! Amen

  • Perfect Peace in Times Like These
    Jan 10 2025

    Scripture Text: Isaiah 26:3 (KJV)

Today, many of us are facing a fair amount of anxiety during these post-election days. Many are in shock – terrified, confused, and heartbroken. Perhaps it takes “times like these” to shake us out of a fairly comfortable armchair faith in Christ – to get us to take a deep breath – and to lead us to examine more closely the claims and promises Jesus has made. There is only one antidote for our anxiety today and the next 4-8 years – the Word of God. In today’s message Pastor Wallace shares insights from one of God’s promises to His people – perfect peace. People throughout the centuries have locked onto this verse because the peace that comes from God is perfect: “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusted in thee.” Perfect peace can never be found trusting in anyone or anything other than God. Health, finances, career, education, other people or relationships, and every other option we may choose to put our trust in will fail to provide the peace we long for. He alone is both worthy of our trust and able to provide perfect peace. Amen

  • When The Brook Dries Up
    Jan 9 2025

Scripture Text: 1 Kings 17:1-16 (NIV)

In First Kings 17, a grievous drought had spread throughout the land, but the Lord had kept His servant Elijah safe, secret, and satisfied by brook Kerith. One of the questions the story about Elijah raises is how do we not only survive but THRIVE? How do we prosper? How do we receive the blessings in life that God wants to give us? When things are going great and when things are not going so great, and you see both in this story. There is a drought in Israel and God sends the prophet Elijah to a brook where he can get water; but then the brook dries up. This experience in his life – all of us have experienced at some time in our life. In today, message Pastor Wallace walks through this story almost verse at a time. Overall, the point of this message is that God wants to move your from here to there. “There” is that place in your life where God wants you to be so He can bless you. Are you where God wants you to be? Whether your brook is full or dry, how can you cooperate with God who wants to give you a bigger life than you can possibly imagine. Trust, risk, receive, and then a little bit of flour and oil becomes a whole lot. Poverty becomes provisions when we trust God. Gloom becomes grace when we trust God. Amen.
