  • Episode 12: Are The Addams Family Latino?
    Nov 4 2022

Hello and welcome back to the ULTRA-RARE haunted podcast! In Episode 12, I ponder whether or not the Addams Family are latinos.

In this solo-episode I talk about Latinos in Horror, why many Latinos LOVE the genre, and of course, I discuss the potential latinidad of la Familia Addams.

The Addams Family first debuted in a comic strip by Cartoonist Charles Addams.

By the way, the you may be hearing in the background throughout this episode is an authentic rainstorm. I hope it gives you "haunted vibes" and isn't too obnoxious.

Here are links for some of the topics, shows and movies that I made reference to in this episode:

  • Episode 11: Fear and Imagination
    Sep 2 2021

In episode 11 we get back to our roots and discuss the core theme of this podcast: Fear and Imagination.

In this episode my sidekick Igor and I discuss our fears, and what it is that we love so much about horror. We talk about the ways that fears can drive us mad and alter our reality into something much more terrifying.

We reference a few movies, which can all be found online to stream, not all for free, unfortunately.

The Innkeepers (2011) can be rented for $3 on Prime and YouTube.

As Above, So Below (2014) is available to stream on Netflix.

His House (2020) is available to stream on Netflix.

We briefly talk about Lovecraft County and social justice themes in modern horror.

You can find more information on why some people enjoy horror more than others here:

  • Episode 10: Real Life is Terrifying
    Sep 21 2020

It’s episode 10! Let’s get real! In this episode we’re talking about the absolute horror show that is reality.

Please be forewarned that episode 10 comes with a content warning. While discussing real-world horrors, we touch upon some potentially triggering topics including r*pe and ch*ld d**th. Please skip this episode if you think this episode might be too much for you. We’ll have something more entertaining and less intense for you on the next episode.

We are constantly turning a blind eye to the terrors of the real world. It might be the only way to live a happy life. In episode 10, we look our real-world fears in the face, and acknowledge the fact that safety is an illusion that we collectively accept. It is a necessary buy-in that allows us to get through the day with a little bit of peace.

Join me and my good friend Beck as we discuss our own experiences with home invasions, and talk about how that kind of violation influences your overall sense of safety and security, even after the fact.

If you need a pallet cleanser, listen to Three Little Birds… how I forgot the song title to a song this famous is beyond me, but here’s the link, in case you need it: Three Little Birds (YouTube)

In this episode I also refer to a couple of very upsetting news stories. If you’re curious, you can read about those stories in more detail here:

5-year-old boy killed by Neighbor in North Carolina

Texas Girl Plays Dead For Hours As Man With AK-47 Murders Her Entire Family ‘For Fun’
