Different with Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe

  • Summary

  • We’d like to introduce you to a new podcast. It’s called Different. But why different?

You know how when you’re wearing sunglasses it puts a tint on everything? Or if you wear glasses you see some things in focus and others out of focus?

Well, we all have lenses on the inside of our head too. And they tint, colour and shape everything we see, think and understand.

So, on this podcast Steve Chalke and Jill Rowe are going to dive headlong into just that as they discover a new ‘meaning making’ story and embrace a fresh way of thinking about life, the universe and everything in-between.

They will talk about getting to a place where we see our lives as part of something bigger than our day-to-day experience - becoming a part of an unfolding story. Finding joy in ordinary moments, facing failure and struggle and discovering liberation and purpose.

They’ll also discuss experiencing life as a gift and learning how to live on purpose. They’ll be peering into dark nights of the soul and finding hope. And simply learning how we are here to walk each home.

We hope you enjoy these conversations – discovering a new story and embracing new thinking.

  • Being patient and the wisdom of the slow
    Feb 12 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke talk about another one of the Oasis 9 habits, this time being patient. From starting with a realisation, from being in a dentist's chair to understanding that life is not meant to be done continually at high speed, we explore how patience can be the teacher of wisdom.

The will help us to do life well. We see the great depth in the wisdom of slow. And we realise it is no wonder that St. Paul described that love is always patient.

This one was fun and deep all at the same time.

  • Being Honest - Entering the ZOUD
    Jan 29 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke talk all about being honest. They talk about the ZOUD, the zone of uncomfortable discussion, and we try to understand why we sometimes dance around being honest and the overwhelming feeling of fearing disconnection from others if we choose honesty as our path.

And in a world where honesty can seem in short supply, we can't help but notice how dishonesty erodes trust. This topic matters. We hope this episode begins a conversation that you will feel able to keep going with your people too.

  • Being considerate – part of the greatest revolution
    Jan 15 2025

In this episode of the Different podcast, Jill Rowe and Steve Chalke about what it means to be considerate. Strangely, it's a word that we don't hear or think about that often. But through their chat, we see that to consider is perhaps one of the most powerful ways to transform our way of behaving in the world.

To consider the other, to pay attention to, to have our eyes on the needs of others. It really does seem that it is the simple things that are the source of the greatest revolution, that is, to love others as ourselves.
