    When we were young

I would often ask just for fun

Will you still love me when old

“Forever my darling” I was told.

    With dreams in my eyes

    And hopes in my heart

    Moved on in life as

    Any loving husband and wife.

Ours was a roller coaster ride

As is in any couples lives

    We stuck to each other

So the adversaries we could fight.

Always looking for what is wrong

Before looking for who is wrong

    Never arguing for very long

This kept our relationship safe and strong.

What more can I ask from God tonight

With kids and grandkids now by our side

Love of brothers and sisters far and wide

Family & Friends our treasures and pride

And a husband like him – The love of my life.

Today when we are at this stage of our life

Spreading love, doing Seva, The food on which we thrive

I thank Waheguruji for all his blessings and more

Nothing left to ask for anything anymore

As fifty years ago, He blessed me with a man brave and bold

Surender my husband – An Ocean of Gold

  • I Remember
    May 30 2021

    I remember – I was a shy young bride

Stepping into a new threshold of life

This day today of twenty years

Was filled with apprehension and fears

Song on my lips and stars in my eyes

Dreaming of the beginning of some beautiful ties.

I remember – the first time you held my hand

We are as if in heaven and not on this land

Deeply lost in each other’s eyes

Oblivious to the world’s shouts or cries.

I remember – like all young people in love

Had lots to discover and to discuss

Over each other we would make so much fuss

The world seemed to end if one got cross.

I remember – the now silly quarrels and small tiffs

They added spice to a sometimes dull bit

Expectations run high when we are very young

Tempers volatile with sometimes sharp tongue

But the joy of making up was ever so great

It made up for the tensions the quarrels would create.

I remember – your reaction to our first born

Too nervous to hold but so proud when told

That you were the father of this new born

Your eyes were misty and looks forlorn.

I remember – for the second your pacing back and forth

Wondering why the doctor was not yet brought

When the cry of your son finally heard

With sheer joy you went berserk.

What can we ask from God today

When he has given all without our say

Our greatest treasure our sons today

Please God continue to bless them also we pray.

Lead us on with your kindly light

To do good deeds and reach great heights

We have no cause to fret or worry

    Toddy on our twentieth anniversary

Yet another milestone in the life

Of any husband and his wife.

    Twenty years of being together

Needs to put our cap a feather

    Two decades it is today

    But I still remember all

    As only just yesterday.

    Do not feel let down

    When some people betray

To their own plot some day

    They will eventually fall prey.

If they did not discover you

    The loss is all theirs

You are one in a million

And for those people, who cares?

Do not waste the precious pearls from your eyes

All the pain within, do try to disguise.

    You are the rarest gem

Whose value not all can realize

    Who will treasure it?

But the sage and the wise.

    Your petal soft heart

    Bleeds with everyone’s’ pain

    Your childlike innocence

Cannot fathom people who pretend and feign.

You call a spade a spade

Even if some don’t like it I am afraid

Your simplicity is the one that touches people’s hearts

The tensions and worries of others you cart.

    The ocean of love within

    Brings care and consideration around

    Your goodness of soul

    Helps the helpless unbound

    Do not change today

If some people let you down

    Do not even bother

    To even wince or frown.

    You are the lucky one

    Closer to God

    Unfortunate are they

For whom you are of no accord.

    You are a jewel

Such in a million one you find

People like you are a blessing to mankind.

For my husband during his difficult times
